Taliban claims to kill German hostage

By NOOR KHAN, Associated Press Writer

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - A purported Taliban spokesman said
the militant group shot and killed one of two German hostages on
Saturday and that the other German would be killed within hours
unless Germany announced its troops would leave Afghanistan.

Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said the German was shot at 12:05 p.m. and
that the other would be killed at 1 p.m. without the announcement.
Ahmadi made no mention of at least 18 hostages from South Korea
also held by the hardline militia.

"The Germans haven't said they would pull out their troops from
Afghanistan, that's why the Taliban's high commanders decided to
kill the German," Ahmadi told The Associated Press by satellite
phone from an unknown location.

S.Korea urges release of hostages, Germans threatened
21 Jul 2007 07:30:59 GMT

By Sayed Salahuddin

KABUL, July 21 (Reuters) - South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun on
Saturday called for the release of 23 countrymen held hostage by
Taliban fighters in Afghanistan, saying they were medical volunteers.

The call came as the Taliban threatened to kill two German hostages
seized this week if their demand to free all of the Islamic movement's
members in Afghan prisons was not met by an 0730 GMT deadline.

The Taliban is also seeking the withdrawal of all German troops from
Afghanistan, a demand rejected by German Chancellor Angela Merkel
in a newspaper interview on Saturday.

Taliban Claims to Kill 2 German Hostages

Saturday July 21, 2007 10:31 AM

By NOOR KHAN

Associated Press Writer

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) - A purported Taliban spokesman
said the hardline militia on Saturday shot and killed two German
hostages because Germany's government didn't announce that its
troops would leave Afghanistan.

Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said the Germans were shot to death. They had
been kidnapped on Thursday, along with five Afghan colleagues,
in the southern province of Wardak while working on a dam project.

“The German and Afghan governments didn't meet our conditions,
they didn't pull out their troops,” Ahmadi told The Associated
Press by telephone from an undisclosed location.

Ahmadi offered no proof for the claim of the killings; he said the
Taliban would give further information about the two bodies later.

8. US donations and tax $ built that dam originally
after the Soviets left the country .
And now..... guess the hydroelectric project represents all that is decadent with the west and must be destroyed as a sign of their strength.

Seems two faced Taliban didn't mind that we built it for their citizens benefit in the first place.

Taliban official can't speak for kidnappers -report
21 Jul 2007 12:13:13 GMT
Source: Reuters

BERLIN, July 21 (Reuters) - A Taliban spokesman quoted by
Western media as announcing the killing of two German hostages
in Afghanistan does not speak for the kidnappers, a German
newspaper reported on Saturday.

Germany's Bild am Sonntag newspaper quoted unnamed German
government sources as saying Qari Mohammad Yousuf, who
announced the killings, did not speak for the hostage takers.
German intelligence sources confirmed for Bild that the
spokesman had nothing to do with the kidnappers, it said.

"He may be someone trying to take advantage of the situation,"
Bild said in a preview of an article to appear on Sunday.

9. Then why do they expect the German government to speak to the "alleged kidnappers" ?

Germany has 3,150 soldiers in Afghanistan, mainly in the relatively peaceful north, with an emphasis on provincial reconstruction to revive education and commerce and dig wells.

The German Development Aid Ministry has an annual budget of 100 million euros (138 million dollars) for bilateral aid to Afghanistan, with about 20 million euros going direct to the Afghan government construction fund.

The United States, Japan, Britain and Germany are the main donors in the country.

Afghan Gov't Says 1 Hostage Still Alive

Saturday July 21, 2007 2:46 PM

By NOOR KHAN

Associated Press Writer

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) - Afghanistan's Foreign Ministry
said Saturday that one German hostage was still alive and a
second had died of a heart attack, despite a claim by a
purported Taliban spokesman that both had been fatally shot.

“The information that we and our security forces have is that
one of these two who were kidnapped died of a heart attack,”
said Foreign Ministry spokesman Sultan Ahmad Baheen. “The
second hostage is alive and we hope that he will be released
soon and we are trying our best to get him released.”

killing 23 Korean Christian hostages if the group's demands are
not met by Sunday 14:30 GMT, a spokesman for the Taliban
said on Saturday.

kill the Koreans if the Afghan government did not free Taliban
prisoners and if South Korea did not pull its forces out of the

Musharrafs predecessor created the Taliban and supported them. Mushie nurtured the taliban....now the taliban buzzards come home to roost in the safe havens he granted them.
If enough Chinese get killed, China will come down on Musharraf. maybe even take away his nukes while they release the Mongol hordes in the Himalaya mountains of their own restless provinces in that border region.
