US says Chinese missiles smuggled through Iran into Iraq
Source: http://www.forbes.com/business/feeds/afx/2007/07/22/afx3938702.html

BAGHDAD (XFN-ASIA) - The US military said its troops had found Chinese-made missiles which they believe were smuggled into Iraq by groups in Iran in order to arm groups fighting US-led forces.

'We have seen ordnance and weapons that come from other places, but we assess that they have come through Iran,' Agence France-Presse quoted US military spokesman Admiral Mark Fox as saying.

'There are missiles that are actually manufactured in China that we assess come through Iran as well.'

Fox also alleged Iranian agents continue to smuggle Iranian made armor piercing bombs -- explosively-formed penetrators (EFPs) -- to Iraqi extremist groups across the country's long border.

16. Or perhaps Bush* should just enforce his newest executive order
President Bush unveiled a new executive order (Tue. 17 July 07) that allows the administration to block bank accounts and any other financial assets that might be found in this country belonging to people, companies or groups that the United States deems are working to threaten stability in Iraq.

2. With the HUGE underground market in
weapons it wouldn't be too much of a stretch of the imagination to also determine that the weapons came directly from a Chinese illegal weapons dealer.

6. If they came via the ground, then they also had to go through some stans
Only Pakistan shares a border with both Iran and China, otherwise they would have also had to pass thru at least two other stans as well, so we attack China, the stans and Iran, right?

32. Ever heard of Shipping by Sea?
Given the nature of the Roads between China, Iran and Pakistan, I suspect the missiles were shipped by SEA, which means Saudi Arabia could have bought them.

Big questions is HAVE THEY BEEN USED? If not, implies being held by the Shiites who are presently waiting. i.e. waiting to see what the US does. The US has been going after the Shiites, but the Shiites have basically backed off. Iran supports the Shiites, so these missiles may have been being held back for later use i.e. when the US pulls out.

On the other hand the Sunnis have been fighting the US, but no reports of the USE OF THESE MISSILES have been reported. Saudi Arabia is supporting the Sunnis. Thus these missiles probably came from Iran, but were NOT intended to be used at the present time. The US forces took them while moving against the Shiites. Not a good thing ot find, one side of a fight NOT fighting, but you are finding them armed to the Teeth.

The Shiites are waiting for the US to weaken. Thus Bush can NOT pull out our forces, for the Shiites would pounce, but we can not stay given the Sunni Resistance. What a mess to be in.

7. SHENANIGANS!!!
So If they're made by Iran, it's Iran's fault, but if they're made by China it's Iran's fault?

Here comes the RW shill to whine about how they're smuggled through Iran, but they won't mention all the shit that comes through Saudi, Syria, and Turkey. The U.S. govt. can't even keep people from coming across their border, but they blame Iran for everything that crosses theirs? That border is huge and not even close to being easily traversed.
I'm not saying the Iranian government is totally innocent, but, were the truth available, I would lay all my chips on the fact that Iran isn't doing anything that hasn't been done by the U.S. govt..

Double f$%^ing standard if you ask me, but when you're trying to start a war you have to have a big scary bad guy. Those repugs don't understand anything unless it's Star Wars simple...

11. "We assess" they came through Iran?
Hmm, not exactly a verifiable allegation, is it? But it should be enough of a basis on which to launch another invasion, shouldn't it?

13. Or perhaps the actual way they came into the country...
via one of the many black market, gray market arms dealers in the world.

china, iran, u.s., brits, russia all make weapons, just because they are in iraq doesn't mean that either iran or china "smuggled" them in. more than likely, they were sold to the insurgents via a third channel.

yeah, this bizarre pollyanna-ish view that is being sold to us by the moron* is just a way to say, "look if I told you how they actually got in iraq and that we were part of how they got into iraq, it would be bad politics, so let's just blame iran and move on, okay?"

more of morons* black and white thinking in a gray world.

Weren't we smuggling weapons into Afghanistan to stop Soviet imperialism? Amazing that the world is rushing in to counter our invasion/occupation in the ME.

31. Uh oh, the terrorists better be careful...
Some of those Chinese-made goods have proven rather shoddy and dangerous as of late.

They better check with their weapons-dealers to ensure that their missiles were not on a recall list or something.
