Sen. Feinstein endorses Clinton
Edited on Wed Jul-25-07 03:07 PM by sabra
Source: The Hill

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) endorsed Democratic front-runner Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) for president Wednesday, saying the former first lady is best equipped to lead the country.

“This is a very special moment for me because I have the opportunity to endorse the campaign of a U.S. senator who I believe will be the first female president of the United States,” Feinstein said. “Hillary Clinton, I believe, has the experience, the heart and the strength to be a great American president. There has been no election for president where change is as defined and necessary as this one. The question is who is best equipped to lead that change. I believe it is Hillary.”

Feinstein is the seventh senator to endorse Clinton’s bid for the presidency. No other Democrat has the endorsement of more than one senator. Clinton also has the backing of 49 representatives, putting her far ahead of the other Democratic front-runners, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and former Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.).

“Dianne and I have fought side by side in the Senate to expand stem cell research, to take care of our veterans when they return home and to stop the privatization of Social Security,” Clinton said. “Dianne is such a respected voice in the Senate. I’m honored to have her support as we work together to bring the war in Iraq to an end and deliver the change this country wants.”

6. I am not backing anyone at this point, but the idea that Hillary is the most competent to lead this
Edited on Wed Jul-25-07 03:39 PM by wisteria
country needs to be challenged more. I have to ask why? Why is she more competent and why is she promoted as being more qualified?Biden and Dodd have both been in the Senate longer, have Foreign relations experience and Biden sits on the judiciary commitee. Gov. Richardson has cabinet experience and runs a state government. Senator Clinton has spent time as first lady- not President- and six and a half years in the Senate, serving on the Armed Service committee and some smaller assignments. Her one major undertaking, health care reform was soundly defeated. Now, IMO, being first lady does not qualify one to run for President. Going with this idea, both Mrs Bush's', Mrs. Regan and even Mrs. Carter could claim the same qualifications. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to see any of them as President.

I want to see Senator Clinton's real experience and HER qualifications. After all, we are being told she has these things so I think I have a right to see them and not just have the media and her campaign repeat them as fact.

I respect Senator Feinstein's decision to back Senator Clinton, she can back whomever she chooses, I just wonder how much research and time she put into this decision?

PS, this is not meant to be a flame war, I think I pose a legitimate question. I want to see the most qualified person become President.

Boxer came to the defense of Lieberman, as did Bill Clinton.

10. Not even if she runs against Brownback?
What if that's the pairing and he looks like he has a chance; are you going to sit by and let the trogs herd us back to the stone age?

Hey, I'm no fan either, but let's be serious.

I will not be bribed again. I am totally against this slaughterhouse in Iraq--the deaths, you may even consider them murders, and totally disappointed in Clinton's vote. To add insult to injurt, she refuses to address it, other than to give us all the finger and say, after several attempts at spin, to go shove it because she will not admit her mistake.

Sorry. I am a person who champions the human being. I protested this so called "war" in the best ways I could. And now, it should be expected that I will forget about the whole thing and vote for Hill and Bill because if I don't, I will be responsible for another Republican taking office?

Sorry--I will not be bribed or shamed, as you seem to want to do, into giving up my right to vote for whom I choose. If the candidate is Hill and Bill I will NOT ever vote for her-- and him.

It will not be my fault, as perhaps some would like to charge--it will be the fault of the Democratic party for promoting her and all the rest of the MSM who have decided she is the "frontrunner"

--I will not be shamed into another "AAB" vote for ANYONE who voted for this imperialistic, empire that Bush has commanded and all the deaths, the killing of innocent children and familes , not to mention the deaths of American troops for nothing, and on lies from Bush, and now seeks to take it all back with spin-

I have had enough of spin and sell during this Bush administration, enough of obfuscation and enough of double speak.

--in my opinion, she wants the territory of Iraq,it's military bases and it's huge embassy and has no remorse about the slaughter she voted for, fails to see the blood on her hands and has as much conscience as Bush, and would do it again,a(Ie Iran) just to maintain the empire along with all it's corporate fascism.

No you cannot shame me into a vote by which I am expected to "hold my nose". That is NOT A DEMOCRACY.

13. I have nothing to do with the GOP
and if you think it sends it's thanks, and if you think you can shame me for exercising my power to vote for a candidate that expressly goes against my morals and convictions, IT WILL NOT BE MY FAULT.

It will be the fault of those who promote a woman who voted for this slaughterhouse in Iraq and who to this day, seeks to avoid any mention of that horrifice and hapless and uninformed vote.

Do you know the names of the most recently killed innocents in Iraq? For that matter do you know the name of the most recently killed (for nothing) American soldier. There is a reason you may not know their names--and the reason is dis association--separatism from the human being and it's plight.

Do not try to shame me into voting for a person who voted for this and whose convictions lie in supporting that vote. I refuse and I will not. I will emerge from the voting booth convinced that I have not sacrificed my moral convictions to vote for a person who, indeed, has spun and avoided and tried to sell her idea that she was duped. NO WAY and I will feel I HAD DONE THE RIGHT THING.
