Four PKK leaders killed in Iraq blast -Turkish TV
27 Jul 2007 15:43:26 GMT

ISTANBUL, July 27 (Reuters) - Four leading members of
the Turkish separatist Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) were
killed in an explosion at their camp in northern Iraq,
Turkish private broadcaster CNN Turk reported on Friday.

The broadcaster said the explosion occurred in the Kandil
mountains. No further details were immediately available.

Turkey has threatened to carry out a military incursion
into neighbouring northern Iraq to crush thousands of PKK
rebels they believe use the mountainous region as a base.

1. This scene is part of what Joe For Clark (here on DU) was rederring to
if I understand correctly. This whole deal could get ugly. That's one reason why many were thinking Iraq needed a "strong-man" type to rule. I hope the violence doesn't escalate.

2. Yeah, I was wondering if this is what he was talking about when
I was reading his posts.

They were sad. He was so frantic.

I hope he's okay now.

4. What, violence in Northern Iraq related to the PKK doesn't exist?
Yeah, Joe is frantic, but this is a sample of what he's talking about. It hasn't turned into a battle for Middle Earth, but there is definitely a political concern there.

5. Joe said something somewhere would happen in N. Iraq.
That's like saying after a long journey you'll meet a mysterious stranger.
