Sara Lee Recalls Metal-Contaminated Bread
Source: Newsnet5

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. -- Sara Lee is recalling 27 brands of bread products because they could contain small metal pieces.

A spokesman said a recent routine inspection of a bakery in Meridian, Miss., uncovered problems with a flour sifting screen.

The recall involves EarthGrains, Publix, Sara Lee Delightful, Sara Lee Hearty and Delicious and several other brands. They are stamped "best if purchased by" between the dates of July 25, 2007, and Aug. 7, 2007, and include the code "222."

According to a Sara Lee press release, the products are being removed from store shelves, but some may remain in consumer possession.

The products were sold in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee.

Consumers can return the bread to the store where it was purchased for a refund. Consumers who may have questions or concerns can call Sara Lee's toll-free consumer line at 1-800-683-3466. The consumer line is available from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. central time.

1. Oh goodie
Now I will wind up with more stuff stacked up in my backroom. I still have private label dog food and cat food awaiting instructions from that fiasco. At least all the peanut butter is long gone.

This is getting to be a huge pain in the butt.

:spank:

12. There is also an ad for something called "bread China"
These ads on the bottom of the page can be rather strange.

11. When I heard the story on the news, they made sure to mention a voluntary recall
If they didn't recall it, voluntary or not, there would be hell to pay.
