Oil price near record close in US
Source: BBC

Oil prices have climbed to within a cent of a record close in New York, raising concerns about the effect of higher energy costs on inflation.

The surge is particularly worrying as the threat of interest rate increases are shaking global stock markets and fanning fears about a credit crunch.

In New York, crude closed at $77.02 a barrel, just below the $77.03 record set on 14 July 2006.

Analysts said that oil prices could keep rising next week.

1. And gasoline just fell to $2.70.9 per gallon unleaded regular in
...Orlando FL. Not all over but in the area I live in the south near the Orlando Airport. :kick: I just might be able to fill up for $45.00 for the first time since January 2007.

2. Gas price on the west side of Cleveland $2.67 today
Further proof, they just fuck with us on the price at the pump based on when they think they can milk more from us due to our life styles.

7. Seen it on the west side at $2.58/gal
yet the price of a barrel of oil is going over $75 bbl?
WHo is supplying the oil glut?
Where is all this excess oil being stored?
Are people actually cutting back so much on consumption that the price to get them intoxicated again has to drop?

5. Gee, all those billions in taxpayer-funded subsidies the poverty-stricken oil co.'s receive
have sure helped keep costs low.

:sarcasm:

8. And we still haven't had a major hurricane in the Gulf yet
If another Katrina-size one came anywhere near the US gulf coast, we could very likely see $90/barrel oil.
