Heated exchanges mark consultations among Iraq's PM, U.S. officials (Maliki may want Petraeus out)
Source: Associated Press

BAGHDAD (AP) - A key aide says Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's relations with U.S. commander Gen. David Petraeus are so poor that the Iraqi leader may ask Washington to withdraw the well-regarded U.S. military leader from duty in Iraq.

The Iraqi foreign minister calls the relationship difficult.

Petraeus says his ties with al-Maliki are "very good" but acknowledges expressing "the full range of emotions" on "a couple of occasions."

U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker, who meets together with al-Maliki and Petraeus at least weekly, concedes "sometimes there are sporty exchanges."

Al-Maliki has spoken sharply - not of Petraeus or Crocker personally - but about their tactic of welcoming Sunni militants into the fight against al-Qaida forces in Anbar and Diyala provinces.

3. Seems Maliki knows who his "real enemies" are.
Saudis, Sunnis and combinations of the two.

And that's it.

5. "critical benchmark legislation" = "1.2 trillion dollar theft"
Propagandese:
"Crocker's problems with the Iraqi leader are the appearance of foot-dragging or ineffectiveness on the political front - the need to shepherd critical benchmark legislation through parliament."

Translation:
"Exxon-Mobil and other multi-national oil corporations are leaning heavily on Crocker to get Maliki to pass a law transferring control of all but about 12% of Iraqi oil from the Iraqi people into the hands of said multi-nationals."

Who will kill Maliki first, the Iraqi people for selling them out, or Crocker and his multinationals for Maliki NOT helping XOM and others to steal 1.2 trillion dollars worth of oil?

6. full range of emotions? I love you, Al Maliki, did you know that? I love
your wit, your leadership, your control over the sunnis oops shia. I love how you take control in bed. I love the way you comb your hair. I love your accent. Please sing for me, Al Maliki, please, make me happy once again.

translation these folks can't stand one another. and from Maliki's point of view we fucked up Iraq bad enough already. our latest changes in policy are now making things worse, far worse.

8. Al-Maliki is Shiite. Petraeus is working with Sunnis. Doesn't take a genius. . .
. . .to figure that we ought to get the HELL out of there NOW. How much longer is this insanity going to continue? Back in 2002, Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden were Nameless, Nonexistent, Unimportant, according to Bush. Now that's all we hear. This is nuts, nuts, nuts. Just get out, as quickly as possible. Hell, I don't care anymore if it's orderly, just get out. And start worrying about an attack from the REAL Al-Qaeda, because it's likely coming.

Bin Laden must praise Allah every day for the miracle of having George W. Bush as the American president.

9. Poor Al-Maliki...does he really think that he is in charge?? My hunch is he won't be there much
longer if he takes this position....or, once again, he pounds his chest to look tough to his consituents, when in reality, he knows he's Bush's puppet in the play....
