Texan pleads guilty in abortion clinic bomb case
Fri Jul 27, 2007 7:17PM EDT

HOUSTON (Reuters) - A Texas man pleaded guilty on Friday to
attempting to bomb an Austin women's clinic where abortions
are performed, U.S. officials said.

Under a plea agreement with prosecutors, Paul Evans, 27, faces
up to 40 years in federal prison for the April 25 crime in which
he placed a bomb in front of the clinic, but it did not explode.

No motive for the attempted bombing was disclosed.

According to a statement from U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton,
Evans admitted he bought materials for the bomb on April 24 at
a hardware store in the eastern Texas town of Lufkin and later
that day at an Austin store.

11. There's a little more to this story:
"When Paul Ross Evans was arrested in April and accused of leaving a bomb at an Austin clinic that performs abortions, he had with him, according to court documents, the name of the clinic and other names and addresses that could hint at greater plans.

Evans, 27, who pleaded guilty Friday, had the name and address of Austin lawyer Sarah Weddington, who successfully argued for the decriminalization of abortion in the landmark Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court case.

He also had the names and addresses of a stem-cell researcher, a rabbi and a pornography production company, all in California."
