(Bill) Richardson Promises Cabinet Preview
Source: Associated Press

By PHILIP ELLIOTT, Associated Press Writer

HANOVER, N.H. — Democratic presidential hopeful Bill Richardson told union members on Saturday he would give voters a preview of his Cabinet before voters pick the next president.

"I would announce my Cabinet before the election. If I'm the nominee, I would tell you who my team would be," the New Mexico governor told a Service Employees International Union conference at Dartmouth College.

"It would have independents, Republicans and Democrats. Don't worry, I won't overdo the Republicans," Richardson said, drawing laughter. "It would be taken from America, not from the Beltway."

Richardson's comments came as he courted union members during a three-day campaign trip to New Hampshire. Richardson, who is ranked third in state polls, repeated his pledges to SEIU members that he would give unions greater clout.

He said he'll choose a union member as his labor secretary, and a teacher for education secretary.

1. You got to love this guy. He is the only person I would trust with the
expanded powers of the vice presidency (in fact that might be the only way to get a qualified person put in charge.)

2. I do find him likeable.
I know there are things people here have complained about, and I've heard him say some things that make me think huh?

But there's something about him that seems very genuine, committed and smart.

3. Too bad Richardson allowed DREs in New Mexico for the 2004 election.
New Mexico went to Bush by the barest of margins that year.

Pure coincidence, I'm sure.

6. New Mexico now has paper ballot machines
and they were used in the 2006 elections.
Also for the handicapped, there are 2 voting machines that mark the paper ballots, the machines can be adjusted for people with macular degeneration, it they are blind the machine reads to them, there is even a blow tube for quadriplegics to vote in privacy.

5. After his last debate performance, I'm leaning his way again.

I like the fact that Richardson has a track record in congress, as a Secretary, and as Governor of being able to push legislation through. It's one thing to have pie in the sky ideas but quite another to able to implement them. Of all the candidates, He knows best how to twist arms and schmooze the congress to get our platform through.

And if anyone wants some information on his response to and what happened in the 2004 NM election, I wrote a journal article on it a while back.

7. He should get the other candidates to do the same
I think both parties should do this.
