Water supplies returning to homes (UK flooding happy update)
Source: BBC

Water supplies will begin returning to thousands of homes in Gloucestershire within hours, after engineers battled to repair a flooded treatment works.

But Severn Trent Water - which plans to phase in supplies over a week - warned that the water would not initially be fit for drinking, even if boiled.

County police chief Tim Brain asked people to stay patient, adding: "There is light at the end of the tunnel."

Fears of more flooding have faded and drier weather is forecast for the week.

I'm very happy to post this.
Here's the weather forecast with "No warnings" on Met Office website: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_forecast_warnings.html

The Environment Agency has though three "standard" flood warnings, says BBC.
And we hope they will fade with the clouds and leave room to normality.

1. Hopefully August to be better month
Hi there, yep, our emergency services seem to have been dealing with the floods here very effectively....there seems to be nothing but praise for the way efforts to rescue stranded people were organised, and all very level headed and unflustered as well....there was some criticism of there not being enough warnings beforehand, but overall, from watching the news and listening to the radio, people have been really rising to the challenges, apart of course from those scumbags who've been taking drinking water and trying to sell it on to victims - there's always someone trying to make money from a disaster isn't there

I've been lucky not to be directly affected; but was visiting friends in Gloucestershire today, and they still aren't connected. We brought them a few big bottles of still water - they've already stocked up quite a lot.

Most people have dealt well with the crisis; but it need not have been such a crisis if water had been more efficiently managed in the first place.

3. Haven't been to an affected area yet
Leftishbrit....I've seen the footage from the water plant down in Gloucestershire over the past few days and it's so amazing that many of the locals helped to restore the plant before they tried dealing with their own properties, I think that says everything doesn't it?
