Paris Hilton loses inheritance
Source: News.com.au

PARTY princess Paris Hilton is $60 million out of pocket after her billionaire grandfather - appalled by her jail term for drink-driving offences - axed her inheritance.

...

"He was, and is, extremely embarrassed by how the Hilton name has been sullied by Paris," says Jerry Oppenheimer, who wrote a biography of the clan called House Of Hilton.

"He now doesn't want to leave unearned wealth to his family."

about how the hypocritical old bastard inherited HIS wealth from his father Conrad...

Now, all of a sudden, he's against unearned wealth...

Very republican...

On Edit:

"Conrad Hilton died on January 3, 1979, in Santa Monica, California, at age 91 from natural causes. He is interred at Calvary Hill Cemetery, in Dallas, Texas.

"His estate founded the Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize. He left US$250,000 to each of his surviving siblings and US$10,000 to each of his nieces and nephews. Most of his assets were willed to the Roman Catholic Church and charities. However, Conrad's son, Barron, contested the will and won in 1988. The net worth of Barron and his descendants then jumped to over US$335 million."

He worked for his father and was instrumental in expanding the hotel chain and hence his fathers fortune. It isnt as if he was ANYTHING like Paris. Barron Hilton actually did work for a living.

41. I agree. For every notable person who tries and fails, we have success stories
like Paris or Anna Nicole Smith, who are able to amass vast fortunes on their own, even though many observers ask, "what did they do to deserve it?". If wealth is the measure of success or competence in life, then Paris has been very successful.

Edited on Mon Jul-30-07 11:18 AM by Tesha
"Today, in a shocking turn-about, Paris Hilton announced that
she's changing her last name from Hilton to Westin, and she
will now only get falling down drunk and vomit off the
balcony of various Starwood hotel properties.

Her agent described Hilton Westin as 'especially
anxious to try her luck off the sky balconies of the Westin
Bonaventure in Los Angeles'. It's such a long shot from the
top down to the lobby level, it ought to make one hell of a
splatter! Plus those glass elevators give such great oppor-
tunities for ''exposure'', if you know what I mean..."

The lobby just prior to Westin's arrival as a guest:

37. she isn't out anything, the self important old coot was never going to give her anything
Edited on Mon Jul-30-07 12:08 PM by pitohui
i've seen these games played, if the old coot wants you to have the money, he makes sure you have it while he's alive, because you don't get it after he's dead anyway, the nursing home vultures and the lawyers get it

paris is already rich and never had this money "in pocket" to begin with

old coots who play mind games w. cutting people out of wills to get attention are just as unattractive in their grabs for attention as la hilton herself

been there, done that, got the tee shirtn -- relatives who wasted their lives kissing up to one old fool in my family who was constantly re-writing her will -- they never got anything -- every penny of the money disappeared before she finally went to that big attention whore theater in the sky

you can't live your life to please people who won't be pleased

if he was embarrassed by her antics he would have cut her out over the sex video not over being jailed for, wait for it, driving with a suspended license, that's hardly a real crime at all if anyone else did it

he is an emotional blackmailer and i hope she tells him to kiss her ass

87. yeah, the live in private care steals even more, been there, done that too
you get the picture, once you're old and helpless, it's looting and pillaging time for the help or so it has been the case for a lot of elderly people i've known, millions go missing and it's never found again

sigh

if you want someone to have some of your money, give it to 'em while you're still alive and still have your head screwed on straight

my mom had several rich relatives, the only one who managed to get anything left to actual family had an attorney managing her affairs who actively looked for ways to gift money to the heirs while their benefactor was still living -- it works better that for everyone -- the person giving the gifts gets to see the changes in the quality of life, the heirs get to use it while they're still young enough that the money makes a difference to help w. buying homes, college, starting a business, etc.

as an opposite example, a dear friend of mine was told that she was going to receive $100K from a CD when her childless cousin passed, now the cousin was over age 100, i felt if he really cared if she got the money he would have given her some of it before he passed, all he did was show her a CD filed w. a bank with her name on it, means nothing, of course he died, the money had vanished -- and oddly enough the housekeeper seems to be newly prosperous...

if you love your heirs and want them to have the money, don't play games, if you do play games talking out your ass about your will, as far as i'm concerned, you can go straight to hell

i don't think la hilton is any good person but neither is this attention-whoring grandfather a good person, he was never going to give these people anything of his own free will if you ask me

58. Her whole family just got dis-inherited.
Edited on Mon Jul-30-07 05:39 PM by superconnected
From the article it appears Barron is leaving 2.4 billion to Conrad(dead) hiltons fund- charity.

He's selling the last of his ownership in hilton and leaving it to charity this month.

He's saying he's not going to pass on un-earned wealth.

And the article says he's doing this because she is an embarassment.

Good job Paris, you f-ed it up for everyone in your family.

bad actress, bad actress.

61. It doesn't matter.
She has her own clothing line, she's about to make 3 million from the sale of her home, she made millions from the sex tape and she gets paid tens of thousands to make appearances at parties.

She's done well enough for herself.

69. Her father is worth hundreds of millions..
through his own business ventures independent of the grandfather. She still stands to inherit a hefty fortune.

While she may blow through money, she seems able to make it faster than she spends.

80. The story is false...
according to TMZ.

I doubt it would impact Paris or anyone in her immediate family very much, even if it were true. They each stand to inherit almost 30 million, but Rick Hilton is well off enough to support their lavish lifestyles even without that trust.

But it turns out that grandpa Barron still adores Paris. The first place she went when she left jail was his mansion.

66. "He now doesn't want to leave unearned wealth to his family."
Now there's a sentiment I can understand.

It's a tricky business carrying family fortunes from generation to generation; the sense of entitlement grows with each generation, as do the disputes about money. Earning your own way has a great deal to recommend it.

68. She is not disinherited. She's just getting cut out of some proceeds

She still has her original inheritance as part of the settlement from the death of Conrad.

All she's getting cut out of is the additional proceeds from the private equity sale to Blackstone.

She's still way rich. In a few days someone will come up with the real numbers, but I think her income as a media figure is a pittance compared to the irrevocable trust already set up for her.

85. ****THIS STORY IS BUNK!!! too bad...
Hotel heiress Paris Hilton doesn't need to worry about family patriarch and precious grandad Barron Hilton cutting her out of his will.

A story published in the UK said the ex-con party princess was in jeopardy of losing her mega-inheritance because sullying the family reputation, saying that grandpa was cutting her out of the will. TMZ has confirmed that's baloney.

After the socialite was sprung from the klink, she spent a few days at grandpa Hilton's family compound in Beverly Hills. It's rumored that Paris stands to inherit somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 million.

I've seen her video. I think that she has what it takes to go somewhere in the porn industry.
