Congressman Moves to Impeach Gonzales
Source: Free Market News Network - The Nation

After months of revelations about his ham-handed attempts to politicize investigations and prosecutions by U.S. Attorneys and sections of the Department of Justice he heads, after his repeated refusals to cooperate with Congress and his deliberate attempts to deceive the House and Senate judiciary committees, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has invited impeachment to an extent rarely seen in the long and sordid history of executive assaults on the rule of law. And Congressman Jay Inslee is answering the invitation.

And anyone else who refuses to claim "confusion" or even more admirably, refuses to run from the "Impeachment" conversation because we might make the media maaaaaad at us.

Josh Marshall:

Justice spokesman Brian Roehrkasse said "confusion is inevitable" when officials discuss classified activities in public.

FBI officials bristled at that.

"If you read the director's testimony, it is anything but confusing," said a top Mueller ally at the FBI.

In other words, the folks around Mueller seem pretty clear: Gonzales perjured himself.

4. Pelosi too busy. If ONLY Gonzo would just resign and go AWAY
Edited on Thu Aug-02-07 03:06 AM by chill_wind
for Steny and me so we don't have to spend people's time doing these inconvenient jobs we don't LIKE, especially before '08 or 2010 or '12.... I mean it's REALLY not a good time....

:sarcasm:

(.....)

"Of course it's merited," Pelosi said. "I've called for the resignation of the attorney general. But right now, we're focusing on health care for America's children, a strong energy bill for energy independence, lobby reform. ... If that's something he wants to introduce, I think there are certainly grounds."

But Pelosi fell short of committing to move the resolution through the House.

"We'll see. I mean, I would hope that the president would see the light, accept the resignation of the attorney general so that we don't have to spend people's time on something that is so self-evident," she said.

In any case, House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) said he did not expect any such resolution to be considered before the August recess. And he said he would like committee review of the resolution before taking a public position on it.

5. Dear Madame Speaker - here's why you should spend MY time
on something so self-evident:

US Constitution, Article 2, Section II

"The President ... shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment."

The man has committed crimes, I want you to pull his 'get out of jail free' card. Then we'll see how is memory improves when he can't be pulled from the fire by Shrub.

Your job is to be a check and balance on this (mis)Administration - not to keep worrying about the next election cycle - that's my job. You do your job or not, but I'll do my job either way. Do the job we sent you there for or we'll find others to replace you.

7. Just a thought
But all this talk about Gonzales being impeached, why is all the focus on the cover up over the firings? Isn't there also reason to impeach him because of the way in which he gave advice which authorised torture? Seems like the bigger crime is being ignored, and he's been caught on a technicality relating to a different crime...shouldn't everybody be forced to take a stance on this issue just as they did when Gonzales was confirmed?

I don't get it....I just DO NOT get it: How the hell can the Dems sit back and take the bullshit that little punk liar dishes out and do NOTHING...FREAKING NOTHING! How many times does he literally get to lift his leg and piss all over the dif committees of the House and the Senate with his lying bullshit? If he were my kid or your kid...he would have been on restriction and grounded until the year 2030. When will the Dems grow balls and impeach the little liar?

Glad to see SOMEONE with a D after his/her name is going after him. But...what the heck took so long?

12. So far only on DailyKos and Randi's blog. Let's hope we wake up to
this tomorow on MSNBC, and that it moves over to the networks.

I don't care if it fails. Get the headlines out there and let the last 29% know they're days are numbered.
