AzzamanMembers of the national football team who clinched their Asian cup victory on Sunday are hesitant to return home and join their fans to celebrate their victory.
The athletes have preferred to launch their own festivities in Jakarta and later in Dubai where crowds of people were waiting for them at the airport with members of the U.A.E. government taking part.

“Our first target was to win the Asian Cup and we achieved that. Now we are thinking of how to celebrate the victory amid the country’s extremely difficult problems,” said Younis Mahmoud, the team’s captain and the Asian Cup tournament’s star.
But Mahmoud noted that he was worried about the current security conditions in the country.
“We are not only worried about our own personal safety but also about the safety of the huge crowds and the possibility of terrorists attacking them,” he said.
