US air strike in Baghdad's Sadr City kills 13-hospitals
Wed Aug 8, 2007 4:56AM EDT

BAGHDAD, Aug 8 (Reuters) - A U.S. helicopter strike in Baghdad's
crowded Shi'ite slum of Sadr City killed 13 people and wounded
eight early on Wednesday, hospital sources said.

Reuters television pictures showed a U.S. attack helicopter circling
above bullet-riddled cars and a house that showed damage from
shrapnel and fire.

U.S. military officials did not immediately respond to queries
about the incident.

An official at Sadr City Hospital said it had received 10 bodies,
while an official at Imam Ali Hospital, said it had taken in three
bodies.

U.S. says kills 30 in air strike in Baghdad's Sadr City

(Updates with US statement)

BAGHDAD, Aug 8 (Reuters) - U.S. forces said they
killed 30 people in an air strike in Baghdad's crowded
Shi'ite slum of Sadr City on Wednesday, describing
those killed as militants linked to Iran.

Hospital officials put the death toll at at least 13.
Hundreds of angry mourners later marched chanting
through the streets of the slum after the raid on the
eve of a major Shi'ite holy day.

The U.S. military said it, along with Iraqi military
allies, had killed 30 "special groups cell terrorists" and
captured 12 in a raid in the area. Helicopters opened
fire after spotting militants in a vehicle trying to
attack ground forces.

"Responding appropriately to the threat of the
organised terrorist force, close air support was
called and engaged the terrorist vehicle and
organized terrorist force, killing an estimated 30
terrorists," the military said in a statement.

2. I'm sure that only 'terra-ists' died in the bombing from the air.
No civilians were hurt, were they?

7. Glad we paid extra for the special ammo
The terrorist seeking ammo that only kills insurgents or terrorists. Can you imagine what kind of resentment we'd be stoking if any of these 30 dead were innocent (relatively speaking) civilians?

4. terrorists killed .... fighters from Iran
Iraqi dead are always terrorists. They make this transformation as they lie down to die. Even women and children who are particularly hard to detect alive do so. The wounded are all known to be suspects (guilty just not waterboarded into submission yet)

ABC News

"The individuals detained and the terrorists killed during the raid are believed to be members of a cell of a Special Groups terrorist network known for facilitating the transport of weapons and explosively formed penetrators, or EFPs, from Iran to Iraq, as well as bringing militants from Iraq into Iran for terrorist training," the military said.

These cadavers even managed to join a group. These Iraqi terrorists are very clever.

Yet there are no pictures of the people or traffic across the border. Do you think that if there was that much going on the US should be bombing the border and not neighborhoods?

6. That's why we aren't taking the casualties
that we were a couple of months ago...fucking air strikes. That's how the "Surge" is supposedly so successful. What a way to spare our boys. Massacre the Iraqi's from the air. Great 'rules' of engagement. And we were bitching that insurgents don't wear proper uniforms. All is fair.....
