French president, Bush to get together in Maine

For the second time in just over a month, the small community of Kennebunkport will host two world leaders when President Bush meets Saturday with French President Nicolas Sarkozy at the Bush family compound.

Last month, Russian President Vladimir Putin stayed at the compound at Walker's Point for a one-day summit with Bush.

Sarkozy, who is vacationing at an estate on Lake Winnipesaukee in Wolfeboro, N.H., plans to visit Bush for a private lunch.

Bush is scheduled to arrive in Kennebunkport today, staying through the weekend for a wedding. The Bushes will host Sarkozy and his wife, Cecilia, on Saturday, said presidential spokesman Tony Snow. Laura Bush extended the lunch invitation during meetings of world leaders in Germany in June, Snow said.

Laura was at a fundraiser for the Maine GOP yesterday that yielded about $100,000. When we get back the White House the President can help us that way, I hope.
