VANCOUVER - Several media outlets will be in a Vancouver court on Friday asking a judge to let them see the search warrants used in raids on offices in the B.C. legislature.

"It's not every day that offices in the legislature of any province in Canada are the subject of a search warrant or the subject of a search," said CBC lawyer Dan Henry. "This is a very significant event and one that the public deserves answers to."

The RCMP says unsealing the search warrants could compromise their investigation.

"Sometimes it might involve source information that if it were out in the public it would tend to divulge the identity of that source or it may involve people that are not criminal suspects but may have in their possession things that may be of interest to the police," said RCMP spokesman John Ward.
