Bush Considers Sending Sen. Dole to Iran
AP Wire

January 2, 2004, 9:02 AM EST

WASHINGTON -- The Bush administration is weighing the possibility of sending Sen. Elizabeth Dole to Iran as part of a mission to deliver earthquake relief assistance, an administration official said Friday.

If Dole does make the trip, it would send a clear signal of American interest in providing assistance in connection with the tragedy as a prelude to a possible political opening to Tehran. Dole, R-N.C., is a former president of the American Red Cross.

The administration also may send a member President Bush's family to accompany Dole if the mission receives a green light, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The administration also may send a member President Bush's family? I sure hope they don't send Neil, he's such an embarrassment.

1. That's one way to get rid of Neil!
And make it look like an accident.

Then blame it on Iran.

So we can avenge Neil like we did Poppy!

2. Liddy Dole is one of the more incomptent slackers in Washington
She used the Red Cross manpower and resources to further her presidential campaign. Send her, and when it's obvious she a cluesless skank, maybe the good people of North Carolina will boot her out next election cycle.

and yes it would be nice to get rid of her.

as since she was elected we never hear
anything about her at all in Western N.C.

8. I third that, and I live near Raliegh
"Liddy" Dole isn't mentioned in the news, and I live in Chapel Hill, a short drive from the state capital. Not a word.

She ran her campaign on saying nothing, and is continuing her successful ways. Her campaign consisted of baseless attack ads against her opponent, and warm fuzzy ads about her that had "ordinary folk" saying "I think she's just like me!". Probably true, if your life history consisted of breaking up the marriage of a young congressman, marrying him, and living in the watergate hotel in DC while you hold high-paying do-nothing jobs set up by people who want to gain influence over your senator husband.

(Halliburton, Valarie Plame, secret energy commision papers)won't permit him to campaign next summer.

Rove's VP plan for Liddy Dole would be to soften the hard nosed perception of the present administration and return to the compassionate conservative scam.

14. It appears that no one will be going…
NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--The State Department said Friday that Iran had told the
U.S. "it would be preferable" that a proposed visit by an American delegation
following last week's earthquake be held in "abeyance."
Spokesman Adam Ereli said the U.S has now decided it won't pursue the matter
of a visit any "further at the moment."

The news of the Iranian response was first reported by Fox News.
Ereli said the Iranians had said "given the current situation in Bam," the
town destroyed by the earthquake, "and all that is going on there, it would be
preferable to hold such a visit in abeyance.
The U.S. proposal was submitted Tuesday through U.N. channels, and the reply
was received on Friday, The Associated Press reported.
Ereli said the visit was designed strictly as a humanitarian gesture with no
political component.

No political component??? Libby Dole and a Bush family member…yeah sure…

15. Some members of the Senate --
--used to call her "Sugar Lips" when she'd ask for money for various programs on the Hill.

I'm sure the Iranians will love her firetruck-red dresses, the magnolia perfume and those heels. That's just the culture to send a Southern Belle. They're her people.

I wish Erskine Bowles had won that race. Soon the Iranians will, too.
