U.S. Commander: Iraqis Turning in Weapons
31 minutes ago

By JIM KRANE, Associated Press Writer

MOSUL, Iraq - A dozen former leaders of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s Baath Party have handed in weapons caches in northern Iraq (news - web sites) to curry favor with the U.S. military and claim a role in a new Iraqi leadership, the commander of the Army's 101st Airborne Division said.

"They're coming to us, saying they want to be part of the new Iraq," Maj. Gen. David H. Petraeus said Thursday in an interview with The Associated Press. "It has slowly sunk in that Saddam isn't coming back."

5. I better call the NRA
They need to recruit some new membership. They could own the world with all the pissed off freedom liberated Iraqis. They could even buy Clear Channel for their quest to enter the unfiltered news race going on these days :-)

All the negative jokes aside why would we not want this to be the case?

13. correct me if this assumption is incorrect,
but it would seem as obvious that you support the invasion and occupation of Iraq. I do not. Thus, what would pass for "good news"/"the right track" for one may appear as appalling (or just uninteresting) to the other.

14. I didn't support the invasion
But now I support hte liberation of the freedom loving Iraqi people. I didn't like what they were living under and I want them to have better. The terrorists blowing up people are not what is best for them.

10. I like this
"A dozen former leaders of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s Baath Party have handed in weapons caches in northern Iraq (news - web sites) to curry favor with the U.S. military and claim a role in a new Iraqi leadership, the commander of the Army's 101st Airborne Division said."

These guys just want to have power with whoever is in charge. But I'm sure we can trust these guys to run the country, right? :eyes:
