US envoy says Iraq report will sound warning on Iran
By Ross Colvin

BAGHDAD, Aug 16 (Reuters) - Washington's envoy to Iraq warned Americans on Thursday that pulling U.S. troops out of the country could open the door to a "major Iranian advance" that would threaten U.S. interests in the region.

Ambassador Ryan Crocker also accused Tehran of seeking to weaken the Shi'ite-led Iraqi government so that it could "by one means or another control it". Iran has denied U.S. charges that it is arming and training Shi'ite militias in Iraq.

...

"If the leadership wants to go a different way, I have an obligation to talk a little bit about what the consequences of pulling in a different direction would be," Crocker told Reuters in an interview in his office in Baghdad's Green Zone.

"One area of clear concern is Iran. The Iranians aren't going anywhere. I have significant concerns that a coalition withdrawal would lead to a major Iranian advance. And we need to consider what the consequences of that would be."

3. "The Iranians aren't going anywhere"--yeah, genius. They LIVE next door.
You gave them an engraved invitation to move in. Fucking asswipes constantly warn us against leaving by citing the very problems they've created. Unbelievable.

4. Oh, Jesus Effing Cricket, what bullcrap!
Earlier this year I saw John Bolton give a speech smack in the middle of the British hostage crisis, a speech entirely devoted to how Iran was the second biggest threat in the world next to himself, and that bastard did not once mention that the United States had raided an Iranian consulate, trying to bag Iran's intelligence chiefs, and was holding several diplomats hostage. The guy was getting paid big money to tell horseshit stories like that.

That's the kind of report we're gonna get. They can't even give you half the story without twisting it beyond recognition.

Mark my words: if we tangle with Iran, they will kick our ass.

5. Considering that the report is being written by the White House....
could we expect anything different? Bush want to get his war on with Iran and he'll use every opportunity and every bit of propaganda he can catapult to beat the war drums for bombing Iran.

Now that we know the White House is writing their own report card it doesn't take a genius to see where they want to go with this.

6. The war hawks are running out of time. They must attack Iran before Bush leaves office.
They are hysterical, using every trick in their fearmongering manual.

They also have plenty of help from the same people that boosted the failed war in Iraq: Republican neocons, Democratic neolibs, Israel Lobby.
