Wal-Mart Removes Bestro Chicken Jerky Strips After Dog Death
Edited on Fri Aug-17-07 07:44 AM by catgirl
Source: Itchmo

A Philadelphia woman says her dog died after eating tainted dog food treats (Bestro Chicken Jerky Strips) bought from Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart has quietly pulled the made in China dog treat from its stores named Bestro Chicken Jerky Strips. There has been no announcement to the public as of yet. It is also uncertain of how many tainted bags of treats there may still be out among consumers.

A recall has not been issued. There has not been any information on FDA’s website. Wal-Mart has told consumers if they have purchased Bestro Chicken Jerky Strips, they can return them for a full refund.

Made in China.

A news station is saying there are similar stories from consumers across the nation.

1.  I just sent this article
about this pet treat jerky AND the bogus diabetes test strips to people in my address book that could be affected by these products.
I don't darken the doorway at Walmart, but I know people that still do.
Seems like every day we are learning about more deadly shit from China.

In the port of Rotterdam (The Netherlands), authorities doing a routine inspection found a container from China carrying mattresses that were saturated with poisonous chemicals, literally off the scale of the detection equipment.

A toxicologist asked for his opinion said that a child sleeping on one of these mattresses for even a single night might suffer serious consequences.

According to the Port Authorities, this is what happens:

Goods from China are shipped on wooden pallets inside containers. These wooden pallets potentially carry "wood-eating beetles" that are common in China. Because of European (and US) rules designed to keep out vermin, the containers are treated with a variety of gasses before they ship out. This gas, intended to kill the bugs, can potentially be absorbed by the cargo, depending on the material. In the above case this led to cargo being contaminated with lethal quantities of chemicals.

4. I think china has two motives for poisoning their products.
1. Reduce china's disident population. They probably feed this stuff in re-education camps.

2. Reduce the USA's population in order to make it ripe for an invasion.

10. No. It's just greed.
This is a simple, unregulated free market. A free market regulates by death. Sufficient deaths drive down sales causing the product to be dumped, or withdrawn, or revamped.

No national plot is necessary. Just a lack of regulation and enforcement.

6. But Erin Whatsername was on Morning Joe today ...
Talking about how China is not our enemy and what she said on Hardball was so misunderstood! We NEED those cheap Chinese goods, and if they have to actually make them SAFE they'll cost more ... so what if it kills a few dogs. Or kids.

:sarcasm:

9. Wal-Mart didn't mind killing rural America, or American manufacturing...
heck, the Bentonville relatives wouldn't even pony up to help with a sewage problem in their town. Guess they all have multiple homes in posher areas where Wal-Marts wouldn't be allowed (or needed by strapped lower-wage consumers).

11. Dog treats are DISGUSTING and overpriced
There is gravy in the store I saw the other day for dog food that is six FUCKING dollars for a small bottle. More than TWICE human food price.

Dog food is the shit people wouldn't eat if it were ground up into hot dogs.

Don't feed your animal this shit.

Boil a chicken, lamb, a rabbit or duck, debone it, insert carrots and spinach and apples, blend with organic rice and dehydrate. Your dog will never eat better, the food is cheap, it takes less to feed your dog, your dog's shit doesn't smell like a factory floor, and your dog won't DIE.

For treats, just give them a bite of human food.

Treats are HORRIBLE quality, for the most part. And the good quality treats are more expensive than people food. Fuck that. I'll just give my pooch a bite of ribs or shrimp or bread or cheese when I eat it.

And if you are buying anything to eat at Walmart? Well, you are kind of asking to die.

15. I kicking this up in memory of my friend Nancy
I know she would be hot over this, they are not recalling it, a shrug of the shoulders reaction. Does product safety
exist anymore or is that another quaint notion that has been trashed since 9-11.
