2. alright i've got a beef with the term "freedom" now...
Edited on Sat Jan-03-04 12:15 AM by renegade000
it has nothing to do with the philosophical or political context it is being used it or anything. it is just that american society is killing the term...freedom fries, enduring freedom, freedom tower, freedom soccer league
the term "freedom" no longer evokes any sort of emotional response as it is meant to...freedom is a powerful human concept...

i mean, this has also got to be some sort of cultural stylistic issue.

and...no pun intended with the usage of beef in the subject line...contextual correlation to current events is purely and utterly coincidental...;-)

3. I understand. This group has managed to cheapen the word "freedom"
to the point that it is a real joke. Sad.

8. Happy for the young people. BUT, who chose the name?
Saturation-syndrome,...or something. I really do wonder if those young people were asked to participate in giving themselves their own name.

9. Baghdad forward Ali Mahrani fires RPGs at US Forces Team...
... and tallied a goal for his side easily after the team made up from members of US forces stationed in Iraq dived for cover.

Gives new meaning to the term, "He shoots! He scores!"

12. I was thinking about this in bed this mourning

The problem is that it is bush* and his idiots that are doing this, and also the fact that it sounds so forced perhaps because of the attachment to something already positive.

But if you match the word with something really awful I think it works a lot better.

"Could you do the freedom washing up please ?" or "Could you take the freedom garbage out please", sounds so much more exciting than the normal.

Standing up in the middle of dinner and saying "won't be a moment, I gotta take a dump" could be regarded as a bit off, whereas saying "I could be a while, I go to take a dump for freedom" sounds positivly Scott of the Antartic.

13. "Freedom" has become the property of those who despise it.
You don't like the war? You got a problem with FREEDOM?

It's been hollowed of content and become a bully club. I'm coming to hate the sound of it.
