Texas carries out 400th execution
Texas has carried out its 400th execution since the US Supreme Court reintroduced the death penalty in 1976.

Johnny Ray Conner, 32, was put to death by lethal injection for the 1998 fatal shooting of a grocery store clerk.

...

Earlier this week, the EU urged Texas to end the "cruel and inhumane" practice. Texas's governor said it was a "just and appropriate" punishment.

...

Robert Black, a spokesman for Mr Perry, told the BBC News website: "Two hundred and thirty years ago, our forefathers fought a war to throw off the yoke of a European monarch and gain the freedom of self-determination.

"Texans long ago decided the death penalty is a just and appropriate punishment for the most horrible crimes committed against our citizens.

"While we respect our friends in Europe... Texans are doing just fine governing Texas."

1. Some day...
It will be known how many innocent lives Texas has taken under the color of law and in the grip of its need for revenge.

And when it becomes known, it will have to wear its yoke of shame for a very, very long time.

2. No recusals in 20 years
Not one, except for the serial killer and that was in case he had info about other victims. I don't know how they can tolerate it.

7. I doubt it.
The majority of Texans seem to agree with their State's death penalty laws.

On March 5, 2007 the Texas House of Reps passed House Bill 8 which expanded death penalty sentences to repeat child offenders, even if no life is taken, by a count of 118 ayes and 23 nays.

If you look at the State Constitution of Texas it specifically mentions the death penalty in Article 5, Section 5b.

5. ...appropriate punishment for the most horrible crimes committed against our citizens....
Yeah, like when someone is near the scene of a murder but doesn't commit the murder, know that the murder is being committed, or assist the murder in any way - such as the case with Kenneth Foster.

6. "While we respect our friends in Europe... " (R.Black):
Europeans like me reject the "respect" and the "friendship" of State murderers.
