Universal Music Group, the world's largest music empire, is in talks to launch 1 AM, a music channel that would air uncut videos from its own roster of artists which include 50 Cent, Jay-Z, and Ja Rule, sources said.

And its partner is one of the leaders of the adult entertainment business - Vivid Entertainment.

The music network is the brainchild of aggressive power broker Jimmy Iovine, who runs Universal's Interscope division, and Ari Emanuel, a top honcho at L.A.-based talent agency Endeavor.

They're counting on Vivid to play an important role in the network's securing distribution on DirecTV, the satellite TV giant recently taken over by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, sources said.

So, just replace Goldman/Silver with Murdoch.

Love the phrase "morally ambiguous, yet legitimate" -- Fox's spin-meisters prepping for this new Murdoch satellite show perhaps?

It was basically "Romeo & Juliet" -- except the feuding families in this case were the porn producer and big-city DA.

Murdoch more or less damn created the concept of popular smut.....
His whole strategy (and a very succesful one) with his first big magazine was to put a naked lady on page 3. "The nSun" is still the top selling newspaper in Britain.
