As Iran Develops 2000-Pound Smart Bomb, Israel Faces Missile Gap

Iran now possesses a 2,000 pound smart bomb, the Iranian Ministry of Defense announced Wednesday, according to Ynet. Iran's newly developed bomb can be dropped from F-4 and F-5 jets.

The news comes amid reports of a series of weapons acquisitions and upgrades by Iran and its close ally Syria, both financiers of terrorist groups aimed at destroying Israel.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Air Force is set to buy US-made Patriot PAC-3 missiles from Lockheed Martin, capable of intercepting aircraft and long-range ballistic missiles, including the type used by Syria. The system, however, will not be operational for several years while Israel upgrades its current PAC-2 missile launchers to accommodate the new missiles.

According to Ynet, Syria's recent procurement of advanced weaponry from Russia was a major factor in Israel's weapons upgrade. The United States recently agreed to increase Israel's military aid to $30 billion over ten years to ensure Israel's military edge over Gulf states that will also be receiving increased US military aid and upgraded weapons deals.

"Israel Faces Missile Gap" - Israel has the capability, the survivable capability, to destroy the major cities of any nation that it chooses to attack. There is no missile gap. The F-4s and F-5s that Iran manages to keep in service are left over relics of the 60's and 70's before the fall of the Shah. They are obsolete by any standard and are simply no match at all for Israeli air defense systems, nor can they defend Iran from Israeli air attacks.

I'm saying that Israel has way more conventional and non-conventional firepower than Iran and that if there is a 'missile gap' in terms of who has more throw weight it is obviously in the opposite direction than that idiotic stupid piece of crap noise article bloviates it to be.

And yes, if Israel faced any sort of real existential crisis I am pretty sure it would not hesitate to use the weapons it has to remedy that situation. So we certainly are not talking about such a situation, as you and I both agree that there is probably nothing Iran could do to Israel that would justify such a response.
