Sheriff raids DMX' home, seizes dogs
Edited on Sat Aug-25-07 12:12 AM by catgirl
Source: AP

PHOENIX - Sheriff's deputies raided the home of rapper DMX on Friday, seizing several pit bulls and finding the remains of three other dogs but making no arrests.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office received a tip more than a week ago about dogs being kept in inhumane conditions at the Phoenix-area home, said Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Detectives visited the home and then called one of the rapper's lawyers and told him that the conditions for the animals at the property needed to be improved or deputies would take action, Arpaio said. The dogs were not being fed or given water.

-snip-

Deputies found the buried dogs when they dug up the back yard. One had apparently been burned and the cause of death on the others was unknown because the bodies were decomposing.

11. Now I'm really pissed off

He was caught before and was allowed to have animals again?
And why did they just give him a warning the first time? Law
enforcement agencies need to do a lot more to stop this!

2. Seriously screwed up. Here's a youtube video of him.
Edited on Sat Aug-25-07 12:35 AM by Gregorian
I'm open minded when it comes to expression. But I have to say that what I hear, and who the person is who is expressing can be two very different things. I watched this video and interview, and came away with a very high level of testosterone. I just have to wonder how much of the violence we see is due to the life these people are trying to fight off. Who knows? I'm just guessing this is a guy who grew up in a tough neighborhood, with pretty much no chance of getting out. With almost all odds stacked against him. Maybe he just never had a good influence.

20. hahahaha you just gave him the 'freee pass'
I grew up in the ghetto.. I saw horrible things happen to all sorts of beings... i am not an abuser..

Some people get to the point of abuse and get to the point of not understanding the severity of their actions...

those people should be taken out of society, by society, to better protect ourselves.

giving them the ol' 'free pass' is bullshit.

3. Arpaio may be an asshole, but he does not tolerate animal abusers
He sees to it that they get the WORST treatment at his Tent City prison.

He's a big animal rights person, which shows that it's not just a cause for the left.

6. No he does not. He has animal abuse hotlines and...
"In the fall of 2006, Arpaio could be seen in political advertisements for Proposition 204, which in effect limits animal cruelty in farming."

Looks like someone is going to be wearing pink underwear and living in a tent with their pals.

Sheriff Arpaio. Forget the pink under ware. He might put the guy out on a chain and water and feed him once a day. Joe doesn't tolerate much crap.

Let me put it this way....Paris, Lindsey, and Nicole would be taking their novitiates vows right about now if they fell under his jurisdiction. He's tough but most of the folks he deals with deserve some of what they get. I don't think he has too many repeat offenders.

13. these animal abusers think it's "sport" to not feed or water, to injure & kill dogs
Edited on Sat Aug-25-07 09:33 AM by wordpix
I don't care how bad their childhoods are, these animal abusers should be in JAIL for a long time & if they're allowed to do community service, they should do it cleaning up dog shit and emptying/cleaning up kitty litter at the animal shelters. On second thought, I don't want the abusers around animals even cleaning up their shit. They should clean it off the city streets and playgrounds.

Nice prior conviction for not taking care of dogs, by the way.

Makes no sense to me. Once they screw up like this they should be barred from having them again. :(

19. Another Star?
I don’t understand what makes some people want to own an animal and not care for it. This is the second time he has been caught neglecting animals. Why do people do this to something that can’t fend for itself when locked up in a home or a yard? Sickens me, but I do see awareness rising and hope people start calling authorities on these heartless and cruel people.

25. exactly the same reasons they do it to people. It is the same thing.
easier to do it to animals becuase they can't talk, nor do they have the same rights people have.
