Source: Bloomberg

Aug. 26 (Bloomberg) -- At least two bombs exploded in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad late yesterday, killing 35 people and injuring another 61, city officials said.

One device blew up in the Lubani Park area, an entertainment center, while another rocked a street-side restaurant in a separate part of the city, R.V. Chandravadan, who heads Hyderabad's municipal administration, said by telephone.

Hyderabad, the capital of the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, has a large Muslim population among its 6.5 million inhabitants. A bomb at a mosque on May 18 killed 11 people when it exploded during Friday afternoon prayers.

Chandravadan said 20 of the wounded were in critical condition, and that police have yet to identify the bombers. Reuters said at least 38 people died in yesterday's attacks.

2. Hubby is in Hyderbad now....
Got off work and turned the radio on and it was the first thing I heard.:scared:

I haven't heard from him in 2 days. He was staying with his brother that recently had a heart attack. If he stayed around where his family lives (in the Hindi section), he will be OK. But he travels-so I never know.

It is unusual as the Moslems there are of another sect and not radicalized. We have friends all over Hyderabad. It has three major religions and each area of town has it's own unique flavour.
I hope it is solved. The police commissioner is a childhood friend of Hubby's so I know he is on the hot seat now.

3. Al Jazeera on investigations
'A Bangladesh-based group was responsible for carrying out several bombings that killed at least 42 people in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad, Indian officials have said.

"Information points to the involvement of terrorist organisations based in Bangladesh," YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the chief minister for Andhra Pradesh state, said on Sunday.

Intelligence agencies are investigating a possible link to Harkat-ul-Jehad-i-Islami, a Bangladesh-based Kashmiri separatist group, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.
...
No one has claimed responsibility for the blasts but Sriprakash Jaiswal, India's interior minister, said they were part of an effort to undermine the city's mixed Hindu-Muslim community.'

India is the biggest democracy in the world and the biggest experiment as to the religious peace and mutual respect.
Its success or its failure may prove dramatically effective for the whole world.
It's worth monitoring.
