Anti-war protesters march in Kennebunkport
Source: AP/Maine Today

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine — Even though President Bush wasn´t in town, hundreds of anti-war protesters including Cindy Sheehan marched by the Bush family compound on a scorching, muggy Saturday.

...

Activists from a number of states came to a local school to begin a two-mile march to the Bush summer home at Walker´s Point. Along the way some pounded drums, chanted and carried signs and banners with slogans such as "Don´t Pay for this War" and "Care for Vets."

Police gave no official crowd count, but other observers estimated that at least 1,200 demonstrators turned out. One of the marchers, Alice Copeland Brown of Canton, Mass., said about 3,000 people were there.

...

"You can support the troops and not support the war," said Anne Chay, whose son is serving in Iraq.

Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich, who was also a frequent visitor to Maine during his 2004 campaign, told the crowd, "We simply have to get out of Iraq. We have to end this war."

3. 4.000 demonstrators representing 70% of the American people!
So why not put these demonstrators in Congress, and throw the other bums out. The demonstrators are far, far more representative of mainstream America!

15. That would be me.
I just got home this evening (Monday). It's a two day trip to Maine from Michigan. I will post a thread with my pictures, including ones of the poster soon. Hopefully the picture will come out good enough so you can see your name! Lots of people looked at the sign, and read the names. Maybe it will bring some more good folks here.

13. Local tv said this morning that there were over 5,000 marching
They also interviewed some of the "counter protesters." Typical morans. "Support the troops". "They're fighting so you can march". "Fighting for our freedom". You know the stuff.

But kudos to all those who marched in support of peace and to call this administration to account!
