Labor (party Australia) calls for whaling talks at APEC

The Federal Opposition wants Japanese whaling to be discussed at the first trilateral summit between Australia, Japan and the United States.

Yesterday Prime Minister John Howard announced he would hold an informal breakfast with US President George W Bush and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

Opposition defence spokesman Robert McClelland says it is an opportunity to discuss the sensitive subject.

1. Sure hope Bush doesn't CHICKEN out of it. It's too important to dodge responsibility.
We'll be looking forward to hearing Bush honors this request. Bush has used Australia to bolster his fiendish bogus war, it's only right he returns the favor by allowing formal comment on the whaling done right near their country.
