Gunfiire kills woman helicopter pilot from South Carolina in Iraq
EASLEY, S.C. - An Easley High School graduate has become the first woman pilot killed in Iraq.

The parents of Capt. Kimberley Hampton, 27, say the military has confirmed that their daughter was killed in enemy fire on a helicopter near Fallujah in Iraq.

Hampton is also the first woman from South Carolina killed in combat in Iraq. The other pilot on the OH-58 Kiowa helicopter was injured in the crash.

Hampton was an only child who wanted to be a pilot since the third grade, her parents told WYFF-TV in Greenville. She attended Presbyterian College, where she played tennis.

1. When they ask why we died
tell them, because our fathers lied

Rudyard Kippling

And war has not changed, why they died, because their fathers died.

Found this one as well that fits Bush and all who voted for this damn war:

A DEAD STATESMAN
I could not dig: I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

R.I.P Capt. Kimberley Hampton, we are losing our best and brightest.

4. I'm starting to feel the dread I did every day of Vietnam.
It took me over 30 years to shake it. Now it's back. Easley is just down the road from me, but anywhere is bad enough. I'll be tuning to WYFF for the 6 pm news. This story will be hard to watch.

The Bu$h legacy.

RIP Capt. Kimberly Hampton

8. I just watched the report on WYFF-TV (Greenville, SC). Sad indeed.
Devastated parents - articulate and well-educated - with controlled, understated grief. Kimberly was their only child. They last saw her as she departed on a bus on August 31, 2003. They swapped blown kisses and thumbs-ups. This is tough on these parents. This will open up many wounds if it airs nationally. My heart goes out to them.

11. Slowly their pain and that of countless other
parents will filter out... and slowly wake up many Muricans to the pain of a war over shifting reasons.

I am not a pacifist by any stretch, and recognize that there are occasions a nation must defend itself... this was not it.

And that is what gets me...

CPT Hampton relaxes in Korea with colleagues

goodbye, CPT Hampton....if not for bush*, you would have been able to contribute your skills to our National Security, for many years...
We are sad that bush* cared so little about your life... that bush* would order you to Iraq, to DIE for the "bush* immoral/illegal oil war"...

Two CODEPINK women infiltrated a luncheon on September 10, 2003 at the National Press Club. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld was speaking about his recent visit to Iraq and the need for a continued war on terrorism, especially as we mark the second anniversary of the attacks of September 11th, 2001.
