4. WOW, I must have seen this story just before it was killed!
It was definitely in the Palm Beach Post...

It's all about how the law against doctor shopping has only been used once. It details how the guy died before the case could be resolved. Apparently, one of his doctors is also a doctor that Rush used.

It says most people are charged with possession, not the doctor shopping charges.

It quotes Rush saying this proves the charges against him are political.

The prosecutor says the law is on the books for a reason.

That's the gist of it.....

Charge in Limbaugh drug case rarely used, court records show

By John Pacenti, Palm Beach Post Staff Writer
Saturday, January 3, 2004

WEST PALM BEACH -- Radio commentator Rush Limbaugh says prosecutors are unfairly targeting him with a prescription fraud charge known as "doctor shopping" because he is a famous political conservative.

In fact, a records search by the Clerk of Courts Office revealed only one case in the past five years in which Palm Beach County prosecutors charged a defendant with illegally acquiring overlapping prescriptions.

That case never went to trial because the defendant, Michael Schlosman of West Palm Beach, died. Schlosman received painkillers from one of the same doctors who treated Limbaugh.

A case of doctor shopping was transferred from St. Lucie County this year, while another was transferred from Martin County, according to records.

Doctor shopping, a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison, is duping at least two doctors into prescribing the same controlled substance in a 30-day period. Records from a pharmacy near Limbaugh's $24 million Palm Beach mansion showed the radio show host obtained more than 2,000 pain and anti-anxiety pills in a five-month period in 2003 from four doctors.

If the law against doctor shopping is rarely used in Palm Beach County, it could lend weight to Limbaugh's argument that the investigation is politically motivated.

"The Post's research confirms what we have been saying all along. Rush Limbaugh has been singled out for special prosecution because of who he is," said Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black, in a written statement. "We believe the state attorney's office is applying a double standard."

My God! What's wrong with us? This man Rush Limbaugh is very famous. Can't treat a famous person this way.

Not only was Rush doctor shopping but he was meeting his maid in Denny's Parking lot to get more drugs.

Yes, Rush only wanted to deaden his pain. It must have been one hell of a pain.

30. I don't know what browser...
you're using, but I assume it works pretty much the same in all of them. Opera goes:

File > Save as ...

Or:

File > Save with images as ...

It's actually very simple, and you don't need to do a screenshot, Even the links should work, since you saved the entire page in html.

Open the saved file again to see that everything was actually saved. Sometimes there's wierd code in there and what you want might be hotlinked, Java'd or something else to screw up the save.

(Just remember what folder the page was saved in.)

Most pages viewed are also cached somewhere on the hard drive. That's a little trickier, though, and not always easy or dependable for later viewing.

Rush Limbaugh Lawyer Slams Investigation
Associated Press

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Palm Beach County prosecutors investigating Rush Limbaugh for his prescription drug use have filed "doctor shopping" charges against only one person in the past five years, according to a review of court records.

Limbaugh's lawyer said the review by The Palm Beach Post in Saturday's editions offers more evidence that the conservative radio commentator is being unfairly targeted.

"Rush Limbaugh has been singled out for special prosecution because of who he is," Roy Black said in a written statement provided to the newspaper. "We believe the state attorney's office is applying a double standard."

37. An inaccurate version of the story was killed, not the whole story
I was at work while this whole silly thing transpired. It's not a conspiracy; it's not censorship -- it's just some (really) bad reporting that the AP corrected as soon as it could.

It all began at 16:34 EST, when the AP moved a story that began like this:

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Rush Limbaugh is only the second person charged with "doctor shopping" by Palm Beach County prosecutors in the last five years, according to a review of court records.

Then, at 17:03 (29 minutes) later, the "bulletin" moved:

BULLETIN KILL

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. _ Kill BC-Limbaugh-Painkillers. Rush Limbaugh has not been charged with doctor shopping. A writethru will move shortly.

Four minutes later, at 17:07, a corrected version moved:

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Palm Beach County prosecutors investigating Rush Limbaugh for his prescription drug use have filed "doctor shopping" charges against only one person in the past five years, according to a review of court records.

So, honest to goodness, this isn't scrubbing history or anything sinister -- it's correcting a factual error, and a whopper of a factual error at that. The AP is obligated to get the bad report out of circulation as quickly as possible, but in this modern world, the wrong version made it onto many websites.

This isn't worth a whole lot of our energy. Someone at the AP screwed up big-time, and yes, I'm sure their butt is rather sore tonight.

46. Exactly
Rush's lawyer is comparing apples to oranges. How many cases of doctor shopping have been investigated in Palm Beach County. If that number is incredibly low, he might be able to make his case.

Still, even if it were the case, it doesn't mean Rush is being singled out because of politics. More likely, it's because he's famous. If the prosecutor doesn't follow up on the doctor shopping claims after they made national headlines, he could be accused of not doing his job come election time.

Is it the same way that someone is almost never criminally prosecuted for perjury in a civil suit? Rush seems very selective in who and how the law applies.

58. also rich vs. poor "justice"
when you think about it, "doctor shopping" is a crime that screams wealth. Poor drug addicts can't doctor shop. Maybe the reason that nobody gets hauled off to jail for this is that its exclusively a crime of the rich, and they're not exactly running around ratting each other out. Rush was always at a bigger risk because of his fame. He knew it, he ignored it, and some maid screwed him over for tabloid gossip, then the police were pretty much forced to act. Sorry Rush, don't bend over for the soap.
