Democratic activist sues over loss of Florida delegates
Source: THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

TAMPA, Fla. -- A Tampa Democratic activist sued the national and state Democratic parties in federal court Thursday over the national party's decision to strip Florida of its delegates for next year's presidential nominating convention.

Seeking to penalize Florida for moving up its primary election to Jan. 29, the Democratic National Committee's rules committee voted Saturday to take away Florida's 210 votes in the national nominating convention in Denver next summer.

Political consultant Victor DiMaio, who serves on the Hillsborough County Democratic Executive Committee, claims in his lawsuit that the action violates his constitutional rights.

"Right now we have zero delegates, so we have no voice" in choosing the Democratic nominee for president, DiMaio said.

1. Don't Have a Leg To Stand On, Either
Talk about a frivolous lawsuit. There are no laws requiring any court to rule in favor of Florida Democratic Party--and a lot to rule for the DNC.

2. If the guy can find political conventions in the constitution
he may have a case. Last time I looked I couldn't find it.

3. as a Florida Democrat I am upset about this guy's behavior...
I don't want an early primary. I haven't even decided whom I favor, although I will support my party's nominee as I think all the candidates are terrific. Mr Di Maio should go shit in his over-sized hat.

8. you know, of course, that the REPUBLICAN-CONTROLLED state government passed this early-primary shit
Funny that the RNC isn't penalizing the Repugs.
Funny how Dems eat their own.

Florida party officials said they originally opposed the early primary date, which covers both the Democratic and Republican primaries. The Republican-controlled Legislature passed the change and the GOP governor signed it into law in an effort to give the state a more prominent voice in national politics.

4. I know I should feel bad
But I just can't muster up the sympathy for Florida, like I KNOW I should.
It's terrible, that their delegates are gone, but it's not as though they HAVE to be!
All that has to be done is to put their primary back a bit.
If they don't they need to BLAM THE GOP RUN LEGISLATURE NOT THE DNC THE WHINY FUCKS!!!!!
>ahem< sorry needed to get that out of my system.
This seems to be the only kind of tricks the gop can do now. that is kind of sad, and good at
the same time. yes they can fuck with governmanet in general in a way to screw dems but they
can't attack the message directly. That means WE ARE RIGHT!!!

5. The one thing Florida has shown us, year after year, is that the one thing they should NOT have...
is MORE of a political voice on the national level.
