Well-placed GOP sources: Craig likely to quit soon
Edited on Fri Aug-31-07 07:57 AM by HawkeyeX
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Several well-placed GOP sources in Washington and Idaho have told CNN that embattled Republican Sen. Larry Craig is likely to resign soon, possibly as early as Friday.

Republican Sen. Larry Craig of Idaho was arrested in June at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

A GOP source with knowledge of the situation told CNN's Dana Bash that the Republican National Committee was poised to take the extraordinary step of calling on Craig to resign.

However, that move was put on hold, the source said, because top party leaders have received indications that Craig himself is preparing to step down.

Sources have confirmed that high-level meetings on the matter were being conducted in Idaho on Thursday.

1. If he taps his right foot, he's staying. If he taps his left foot, he's leaving.
Or should we just watch and see what color hankie he's wearing?

23. What are football play by play announcers going to do? They can't say "wide stance" anymore without
the color guy guffawing. Baseball, same way.

1st Announcer. "Bobby Jones steps into the box with a wide stance."
2nd Announcer. "Let's just hope he doesn't start tapping his foot or the catcher is going to clock him." (Guffaw)

The release (versus "leak") of the police interrogation tape was the signal that Craig has reached the beginning of the end. There's no way that would have happened if the Rethugs were behind him the way they were behind Vitter. But then again, Vitter wasn't charged or convicted of anything, he's "in danger" of being replaced with a Democrat, and his indiscretion was of a "proper" HETEROSEXUAL nature!

9. RNC should ask Bush/Cheney to resign
Just a question?????????????????

I am NO supporter of Craig, but why doesn't the RNC insist
that Bush & Cheney resign? They both have done, are doing
& will do far worse things than Sen. Craig...

19. Is it just me....
I don't know but it is just me but I feel like why are there police officers looking for men who are soliticing sex from grown men in public bathrooms. I mean sure it's not right but people solicit for sex all the time...hell I'm a single gal and I'm solicting for sex right now! (lol just kidding) But seriously. I just find it wierd. I do understand that he is a Congressman and should have more pressing issues than having sex with other men in a bathroom. That's for sure. I just wonder what the police department is doing?

26. As I understand it, the airport complained to the police
that there was TOO MUCH soliciting of sex going on! And since the bathroom WAS part of the airport, it's just private enough to make that request.

And anyone else find it odd that the Republicans are forcing him out, but Vitter is still in office?

18. It would be better for us if he stays
Republican stronghold, if he leaves another Conservative will replace him and mostlikely will win in the next election, if he stays on and runs, with a conservative Democrat, we might have a chance for his seat.
