Romney Uses Police Escort in S. Carolina

Aug 31, 4:20 PM (ET)

By JIM DAVENPORT

SALUDA, S.C. (AP) - The motorcade of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney exceeded speed limits and went through stop lights Friday as local law officers escorted him, blue lights flashing, to campaign events in two South Carolina counties.

Traffic pulled over for Romney's caravan as Saluda County Sheriff Jason Booth, a Romney supporter, led the candidate's motor home and staff cars with his blue lights running from the Aiken County line through Saluda County to the Newberry city limits, according to an Associated Press reporter following the candidate.

The caravan traveled between 10 mph and 15 mph over posted speed limits. The posted speed limits were 45 mph and 55 mph.

"We wanted to make sure he stays safe and gets to where he's going," Booth told The Associated Press.

3. What hubris! Running lights in escorted motorcade like he was important
Somebody clue Mittens in: America isn't gonna fall again for a doofus who thinks the trappings make one presidential.

"...make sure he stays safe" ??? :wtf: Is somebody after him? Or are they just trying to outrun the dog crap?

What an elitist, carefully marketed - but no substance blow-hard.

9. Are you sure.....
"America isn't going to fall again for a doofus who thinks the trappings make one presidential".

Perhaps I'm too old and jaded to dare hope Americans have awakened from their consumer driven amnesia about what's "presidential" and what isn't. I hope you're correct, but past experience has shown me that Americans have frighteningly short memories.

16. Well, somebody sure wants Mitt to think he's important and relevant
Ya think they have found their new puppet? He seems self absorbed enough to stay busy thinkin he is in charge while others run him.

How was his relationship with his mom & dad?

And the Mormon thing is quite heavy on external influences deciding the way things are done. I've heard they're extremely popular in government work, because they never require moral justification from their seniors and are trained not to need/want any.

I live in Asia where we see their 'missionaries'. These people are obviously not self-determining or even, technically, civilians.

8. Wow, that seems wrong. How about Mitt showing some time management
skills, and getting to his appointments on time, without extra-legal assistance.

Is Romney's campaign being charged for the police escort?

10. Well, he is used to getting "police escourt priviledges" - via
his aide - who would flash a fake badge to locals if/when there were a complaint about the bad driving of the Romney caravan.

So how much did this cost in tax payers money?

15. Couldn't they just have activated the 'Magical Levitation' mechanism
on MittHole's 'Magical Undergarments'?
I mean, if one's super-panties can't be used to hover above a little rush hour traffic, the terrorists have clearly won.

Would racing police cars and sirens be overkill compared to the Power of the Underwear?
