DHL officials accused of hindering union efforts

Company denies charges. Complaint cites unfair labor practices at Upper Macungie Twp. facility.

The federal government charged international delivery company DHL's operations in Lehigh County with hindering efforts by workers to unionize.

The National Labor Relations Board in Philadelphia filed a complaint Thursday of unfair labor practices against the distribution business, which has a location in Upper Macungie Township.

The American Postal Workers Union has been seeking to organize about 400 employees at the facility, which opened in February on Nestle Way.

1. some further information here....
It seems that 120,000 DHL employees are already unionized, so it doesn't look like a company wide problem, just at this specific location. Upper Macungie is just outside Allentown.

2. They do it here in Grand Rapids by hiring a Independent Contractor to run the line.
I was offered a job at 9.50 an hour and turned it down. The DHL in Detroit which is Union makes $16.50. In Grand Rapids they are hiring Contractor Drivers to go around a Union
