Clark's Military Background Draws Veterans' Praise (NH Union Leader/AP)

Andy Vallone, the owner of a country store in Epping, said Clark has “the strength of character to push Bush out.” And, citing Clark’s military background, he added, “He’s not afraid to fight, and in the political arena, you have to fight.”

Curry Lashua, a veteran from Rochester who served in the Army and the Air Force, said of Clark, “He’s a military man whose whole life has been devoted to duty and leadership. He has the training and know-how to run large groups of people.”

Several voters said they worried that Dean — who has a significant lead in New Hampshire and is running neck and neck with U.S. Rep. Dick Gephardt in Iowa — couldn’t win in the South, where Bush is expected to do well. Clark lists Little Rock, Ark., as his home.

“When Howard Dean hits the South against George Bush, I believe Dean will fall flat on his face there,” said Mark Makowski of Dover. “I think Clark is the best candidate the Democrats have. He’ll do well in the South.”

2. I'll vote for any Democrat that gets the nod.
But it'll be a damn shame if we don't pick this guy to be our leader.

4. Reagan voted for Democrats and ...
the Repubs never let it get in their way.

Wes made an excellent showing on Meet the Press this morning with absolutely no help from the "charitable" Russert.

My only suggestion to the General would be to call Russert, Wolf -- whoever -- on the repetitive inquisitions:
asking the same question -- over and over -- about ANOTHER candidate by saying:

"I'm not going to play your game. I'm here to talk about MY candidacy and MY position is _________."

6. also the republican party has changed ... for the worse
At one time the Republican Party was the party of integration, of rights for women, for social liberalism. But under RR it was taken over completely by the Theo-Facists and the Neo-Cons.

The republican party has been hijacked, thats why I left (no pun intended)! Yes I re- registered as a Democrat over a year ago. Although I had ideologically left long before then. I voted against Prince Jeb his first time around, I campaigned hard for Bill McBride his second time around. I did not vote for King George either, I knew he had to be as bad as his baby brother here in Florida. I believe there are a lot of people out there just like me. As far as the other posters on this thread that are questioning Wes Clark's political loyalty. Think Jim Jeffords, no one questioned his leaving. No one questions John McCain when he buts head with his own party. I was in the military, thats why I registered republican. They espoused being for a higher paid and better equiped military. Can you blame him for wanting happy well paid troops with nice tools of the tade to work with. I switched and so have others, so why can't Wes? If you want this party to become great again, then we should learn to be a little more tolerant and accepting to bring people back into the fold. If any newcomers to DU do not recognize my handle, I have been posting at DU for quite a long time. Those that have been around and seen many of my posts know that I hate what the neocons have done. So if anyone wants to question my loyalty to the Democratic party you might want to check with some of the old timers before flaming away at this former Repub.
