Granholm approves the bill for early primaries
Source: WNDU

Michigan's governor signed a bill on Tuesday that moves the state’s presidential primaries to January 15th.

Democrat Jennifer Granholm made the move even though all of her party's 2008 presidential candidates say they will now skip campaigning in the wolverine state.

The Democratic candidates will avoid Michigan because they say having the earlier primary breaks national party rules.

Michigan's primary was scheduled for February 5th.

1. Fine. Stay home. Keep the ad's, the auto-phone messages and the handouts too.
And thanks for nothing in Michigan.

2. Absolutely!
We don't need all the money being spent on police escorts, etc. Definitely keep the automated phone calls!

3. So the GE campaign will now be 10 fucking months long
and probably cost more than $2B. I say move ALL the primaries to August 10 - 90 days before the GE.

5. Most of them aren't worth more than 10 days notice anyway.

6. Granholm is trying to force
Dem attention to the sad state of our economy here. I guess any kind of attention is better than the none at all.I respect her decision to go out on a limb here and attempt to project our problems on the national stage by holding early primaries.
