Utah Mine Owner Forces Congress To Wait For Answers To Fatal Collapse - 09/05/07

By Jesse Russell

Congress may have to wait if they want answers concerning the Crandall Canyon Mine collapse. Mine owner Robert E Murray had been called to testify on Wednesday during a Senate hearing on mine safety. In a letter to Senator Robert Byrd, who chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee, Murray said the Utah situation would not receive proper attention if he flew to Washington to testify. Six miners were trapped when the mine collapsed on August 6. Subsequent rescue attempts resulted in the deaths of three rescue workers. 170 miners have lost their jobs with Murray Energy as an investigation into the collapse continues. Confirmed to testify at the hearing are HYPERLINK "http://www.umwa.org/homepage.shtml" United Mineworkers of America President Cecil Roberts and Federal mine safety chief HYPERLINK "http://www.msha.gov/" Richard Stickler.

8. We shall see. As a Loyal Bushie, he has protection
Is he merely imitating the Emperor's haughtiness because it's "the fashion" and will he be surprised that the cowardly toadying does not extend down that far to more minor Bushies "yet"?

Or does he know that he has the blessings and protection of the Royal Bushies, or some faction within the Inner Circle, that allows him ti feel comfortable in behaving this way?

Or has the Imperial Congress been so stripped of dignity and respect that small children could now piss on their pantcuffs/hemlines and walk away laughing (as long as the small child was a Loyal Bushie).

Who can tell at what exact stage of degeneration we are at now, though I would guess the third option is still the least likely.

5. I would not dick with the Presidnt pro temp of the US Senate if I were Murray. . .
Bob Byrd might be old, but he is spry and not too kind to rich dads' sons who play mine owner. Byrd was born in a coal camp in NC, by the way and worked as a butcher during the Depression just to get the scraps to feed his family. . .and he represents West Virginia!
