Craig supporters call for boycott of Minneapolis airport
Source: Associated Press

BATTLE GROUND, Wash. (AP) - The Twin Cities airport says it has a duty to uphold the law in response to a group that says the airport owes Senator Larry Craig an apology.

The American Land Rights Association is also calling for a boycott of the airport.

The Battle Ground (Washington) based association says airport police who arrested the senator in a men's room sex sting are responsible for weakening private property rights. Craig is a Republican member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

The association advocates for the use of federal lands and against what it calls federal "land grabs."

Edited on Fri Sep-07-07 09:17 AM by The Backlash Cometh
Craig was on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee. If this Property rights group is going to stick their neck out and support him, it means that Craig was not on that board to protect federal land for the public. He was considered a butt buddy for private land interest. So maybe Craig was the kind of son of a bitch who would make sure that our Federal land resources get usurped by private interest for next to nothing?

He's probably the kind of politician that gave away Indian mineral rights without properly reimbursing them.

I use to dislike Craig, just because he was a Republican. But now I hate him for a reason.

As a Minnesotan I would like to thank them for their boycott. Maybe the republicans can skip having their convention in St Paul too?

Oh and I really don't get how sting operations of this nature are a matter of property rights. I mean I do have misgivings about civil right concerns involved in this kind of sting but I fail to see where private property rights and laws enter the picture.

40. You might be surprised at how right wingers can turn out to support the local talent
I could tell you a tale that would amaze you, but it would give away my undisclosed location.

Suffice to say, there is sometimes more tolerance of local rule breakers than one might think. 'Ah, well, we have to forgive him because it's the Christian thing to do...' Have heard that one applied to many bad boys in my tiny western town. However, that Christian charity seems not to apply to anyone they don't know. Ignorance isn't bliss, but it is pretty damned predictable.

25. Double edged sword. On one hand, the boycott will mean a huge
reduction in Republican bathroom sex at the Minneapolis Airport.

On the other hand, the huge reduction in Republican bathroom sex at the Minneapolis Airport will mean the airport police will run out of Republicans to arrest, thus meaning possible layoffs at the Airport Police Department?

this seems to be about the only other visible, albeit oblique, non-family support Larry Craig has accumulated since the untimely disclosure of his unsuccessful toilet rendezvous attempt.
