PONTIAC — A bomb threat against Dwight Township High School found on a calculator may have been a joke, but a judge said Thursday it was serious enough to warrant keeping a 15-year-old boy in custody on criminal charges. | Photo gallery | Video
The boy was in Livingston County juvenile court Thursday on charges of falsely making a terrorist threat, a Class 1 felony, and disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor.
Livingston County Associate Judge Jennifer Bauknecht ordered that he remain jailed at the McLean County Detention Center in Normal. The defense had asked that he be placed on home confinement.
“This is something that required an overwhelming response ... and affected so many people, including law enforcement and parents,” she said. “Due to the seriousness of these charges, ... I believe that it is in best interest for you to be placed in detention.”
