Globe-Trotting Lame-Duck President (More International Travel in '08)
Source: ABC News

President Bush will not sit home his final year in office.

While the presidential campaign of 2008 sweeps across the country, the lame-duck two-termer is scheduling an exhausting year of focus on international relations and foreign travel that will keep him out of the country.

----

In addition, Bush just announced this week he will definitely attend the Beijing Olympics at some point in August as the two political parties back home prepare for their nominating conventions.

----

Add to all this the likelihood Bush will want to reciprocate on the hospitality he's given some of his new friends in Europe such as the French president and his desire to see Africa again. He could always visit Iraq and Afghanistan if conditions there show improvement. He's overdue for a major tour of the troubled Middle East.

In 2008, Bush could very well log more frequent-flier miles on Air Force One than any other year of his presidency.

7. That's what I think too.
He's seeing the world on the taxpayers' money, even though he has no reason to do so. He's just as useless abroad as he is here. Or maybe Cheney wants him out of the way.

8. There's no way he'll get in the back entrance
If Jimmy Fallon can't do it, I doubt * would get the chance. If you didn't catch it, here's a transcript of the SNL interview.

3. Hang Up the "Mission Accomplished" signs and pocket your wristwatches...
It's the 2008 George W. Bush Victory tour.

Roll up, Roll up for the victory tour...

5. when is he NOT flying off to someplace? Seems like he spends every day in
AFone. I hate to think of all the jet fuel he has used up. Probably enough to put the country into bankruptcy.

he's out of the country. Some calamity breaks in the news and he's too far away (with too many of his key operatives) to do much about it (remember when the Joseph Wilson editorial and the whole Plame scandal started? He was in Africa, watching elephants fucking). Plus, it'll be a year of having to hide out from throngs of protestors wherever he dares to set foot. He won't have that much fun. He really can't go anywhere without having record numbers of armed guard phalanxes and Nazi storm troopers surrounding him. He certainly can't do a rock star walkabout like Bill Clinton repeatedly enjoys - all over the planet. Too many people hate him. And also, remember how that huge imperial entourage cramps everybody's style wherever he visits, and pisses off the locals. Remember how fondly Queen Elizabeth probably still thinks of the last time he swept through her place. Trampled her flower beds with all his hamhanded squads and machinery, fucked with her satellite reception at Buckingham Palace, most of London was a mess and the people were pissed - and out protesting. Kinda like Sydney. And when he visits places from Iraq to Pakistan, he has to arrive under the cover of night, with the landing lights of Air Force One AND (I think I also remember) on the runway turned off. Nice, huh?

Yep, they love you, george. ALL THE WORLD OVER. They just LOVE you. Go out and wave to 'em. Test the waters. Enjoy the reception. Live it up, your lordship. You're running out of time to do it all with the taxpayers paying for everything. It won't be long before you're going to have to hit up your rich friends and campaign donors and little old ladies (the same ones you'll have to fight the televangelists to shake down) to cover your expenses when the American Enterprise Institute and your idiot "Freedom Center" will be forced to bulk-buy all your speaking engagement tickets. Life won't be that much easier once you're a civilian, george. It won't stop most of the world from still hating you. And they won't forget. Neither will history.
