Bush Said Osama bin Laden Video Is a Reminder of 'Dangerous World'
Source: Associated Press

--
"It's important that we show resolve and determination to protect ourselves, to deny al-Qaida safe haven and support young democracies, which will be a major defeat to their ambitions,'' Bush said about the video released just days before the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

--
"I found it interesting that on the tape, Iraq was mentioned, which is reminder that Iraq is a part of this war against extremists,'' Bush said. "If al-Qaida bothers to mention Iraq it's because they want to achieve their objectives in Iraq, which is to drive us out and to develop a safe haven. And the reason they want a safe haven is to launch attacks against America or any other ally.''

--
"The tape is a reminder about the dangerous world in which we live, and it's a reminder that we must work together to protect our people against these extremists who murder the innocent in order to achieve their political objectives,'' he said.

When you have to bring out the boogie man yet again to try and scare people into forgetting how much they don't believe you, don't trust you and that you are the only one who can save them from the boogie man. Desperation.

30. I don't believe this crap at all!!!
I hadn't visited this website for quite a while, but came on just to see if anyone had comments about this so-called tape from Bin Laden. I was thrilled to see your post. NO, I don't believe this crap at all! In the first news article I read, it only briefly mentioned that his beard appears to have been dyed darker, as it was grey before (hmmmm, wonder if he used Clairol? And, how did he do such a good dye job in the desert?) Now, why in the world would he dye his beard? I think the beard looks fake. You can draw your own conclusion, but really...think about it. Why does his beard look so fake? There is one news article released today By BEN FELLER, Associated Press Writer that mentions something interesting. I can't link to it here because it comes on through my internet home page, but the article is regarding comments made by White House aide Frances Fragos Townsend, wherein she says (cut and pasted directly from the article),

"This is about the best he can do," Townsend said of bin Laden. "This is a man on a run,
from a cave, who's virtually impotent other than these tapes."

In the very next paragraph of the article, Feller writes:

In appearance on two Sunday talk shows, she used the "virtually impotent" reference both
times, suggesting the language was chosen with careful purpose.

Maybe I'm drawing the wrong conclusion, but the fact that Townsend seems to be using language "chosen with careful purpose" adds to my suspicions that the tape is a fake, along with the timing of the so-called tape and the comments of "Bin Laden", which very likely could be made up as an attempt to raise the ire of the American public and get people back to supporting this war.

Anyone want to let me know that they think?

13. And we were expecting anything else?
Of course he said that. It's the same damn thing he has said every damn time OBL puts out a tape, which coincidentally ends up being right around 9/11. Just like clockwork. Gee, I wonder how that happens.

26. Umm...
sorry, that is a funny comment. We all know the truth about Iraq, but to say that Bush is putting out these tapes is hilarous. They release these tapes around 9/11, because it is their 4th of July. They commemorate the biggest attacks yet. That is, unless you still believe that somehow the dumbass in office teamed up with OBL and a bunch of other Saudis to bring the towers down. If you do, I have a tin-hat for you.

19. Safe haven?
What the hell does he think "No Man's Land" between Afghanistan and Pakistan is? After six years in residence there I would say "Osama bin Laden" and al Queda already have a safe haven. Quite safe after six years. Not sure how safe we are after six years.

Maybe Bush meant a safe place to vacation. Who doesn't want to vacation in Baghdad?

Don't be surprised if Republicans start converting to Islam. Nothing appeals to a Republican more than the thought of no taxes.

I say "Osama bin Laden" because there is something not right about the beard. At least we know George Bush is real. Too real.

It's really getting very weird.

Just look in what kind of world the Iraqi people have to live

after his illegal war of aggression against them.

'Dangerous world' indeed for those who become a victim of fascists

like Bush and his henchmen.

29. Forget the "safe haven" crap.
Not gonna happen with a Shiite gov't.

More likely is that al Qaeda will get up and leave Iraq when the U.S. pulls out. They already have a safe haven and it's not in Iraq.
