ATLANTA - Airport security officers are used to finding strange critters while screening luggage, they just don't encounter the kind that have venom too often.

A man flying into Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport from South Korea recently packed 30 dead snakes in jars and bottles inside boxes he checked as luggage, said Jon Allen, spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration.

5. I'm guessing that the man is some kind of scientist or taxidermist.
Or perhaps he uses the animal parts to manufacture some kind of traditional "medicines".

8. Well that was a letdown.
The headline and first sentence had me thinking they found living, venomous snakes being smuggled by some warped dude in his baggage.

Dead specimens carefully packed in jars and then lovingly boxed up do not count for the "OMG!" factor.

Sheesh.

No liquids, remember? What did they expect him to do?

ETA: as long as he declared them properly, what's the problem? If he didn't, then there are laws about bringing animals or parts thereof into the country.

11. Sorry... I forgot the appropriate smiley.
My comment was tongue-in-cheek sarcastic, not serious, and I should have used some silly little smiley guy to make that clear. I do know about TSA restrictions, having flown cross-country recently myself.
