Drudge Report founder Matt Drudge is walking away from his weekly, Sunday night Talk Radio show after a farewell broadcast on September 30.

Matt Drudge is quitting his radio show, and, while he won't say why, I have a guess. Could it be that the secretive internet news czar feels overexposed after his recent profile by Philip Weiss in New York magazine? Although the piece was a write-around, Weiss was able to create the feel of an interview by quoting extensively from Drudge's on-air musings.

I emailed Drudge for comment but, big surprise, haven't heard back. Meanwhile, a rep for Premiere Radio Networks says it had nothing to do with the New York story: "He departed the radio business to focus on his website and other endeavors."

2. This is the second time I've heard this news.

The biggest aspect of this story to me is that Drudge had/has a radio program. I didn't know.

in a sex scandal. Not as much fun when it keeps happening to your own people. And damn him, Bill Clinton hasn't given him anything to sink his teeth into in years! What's the point of going on, then?

When I was still working, people got fired for putting rumors on the air. It was considered too reckless. Now they get rich and famous for doing so.

7. It's because he's so PRIVATE & SHY & resents his privacy being violated

by the government's examining his magazines in airports. Plus he needs an extra night on weekends for his PRIVATE activities in Latin nightclubs.

8. I've heard his radio show (while waiting for Coast to Coast to come on the air)

... gotta have my UFO's and my "shadow people" -- Drudge has an annoying voice for radio ... and everything that comes out of his mouth is annoying. Throughout the show, he keeps saying "go to my web site go to my web site." So, why have a radio show? Just stick to the web site. Which I long ago took off my bookmarks because opening his site used to make my computer freeze up (seriously!)

Drudge is a has-been little turd.
