U.S.: Saudis Still Filling Al Qaeda's Coffers
Source: ABC News Blotter

Despite six years of promises, U.S. officials say Saudi Arabia continues to look the other way at wealthy individuals identified as sending millions of dollars to al Qaeda.

"If I could somehow snap my fingers and cut off the funding from one country, it would be Saudi Arabia," Stuart Levey, the under secretary of the Treasury in charge of tracking terror financing, told ABC News.

Despite some efforts as a U.S. ally in the war on terror, Levey says Saudi Arabia has dropped the ball. Not one person identified by the United States and the United Nations as a terror financier has been prosecuted by the Saudis, Levey says.

"When the evidence is clear that these individuals have funded terrorist organizations, and knowingly done so, then that should be prosecuted and treated as real terrorism because it is," Levey says.

4. WHAT! Saudi's funding terrorist! Something must be done!
Let's bomb Iran! That'll teach them!

(Swear to God, if BushCo was President in 1941, he'd declare war on carrier air strikes and invade Canada after the Pearl Harbor attack.)

5. But we need their oil...
That's all that matters. But would we be willing to sacrifice our convenient lives made convenient by the Saudi oil? How many would be willing to live with gas rationing and gas shortages to put a stop to Saudi funding of terrorism? Very few. We are a selfish people and that is how the Bushes have managed to pull all of this off. With a little help from the Democrats who believe oligarchy is what the founding fathers intended for our democracy.

6. All complicity aside, capitalism and peace are seldom bedfellows
Levy would like to snap his fingers, but imagine the Sauds snapping their fingers in 2001 and increasing the price of their most abundant commodity three or four fold, for the foreseeable future. Who wouldn't? They have been taught well by western examples, though human nature in such cases hardly requires teaching.

7. Filling Al Qaeda's coffers is the only way the House of Saud can survive
Basically bribing Al Qaeda not to attack them (too much)
