UM, Univisión still trying for GOP debate
Democratic presidential candidates engaged in a Spanish-language debate Sunday, but Univisión so far has gotten only one Republican candidate to agree to a GOP debate.
From Miami Herald Staff
and Wire Reports

Sunday night's Spanish-language debate among the Democratic presidential candidates drew an average audience of 2.2 million, according to Nielsen ratings numbers available Tuesday.

That compared to an average audience of 3.2 million viewers for Fox Television Network's last Republican candidate debate and 2.6 million viewers for the CNN YouTube debate, according to Nielsen data supplied by the networks.

The Sunday debate was broadcast live nationwide from the University of Miami.

Efforts by the network to reschedule a Spanish-language debate among the Republican candidates continued Tuesday. Only one GOP candidate, John McCain, had agreed to take part in a Republican debate, prompting Univisión to cancel it, though the network said it was working to reschedule.

1. Doing Their Bit to Make Us Democrats Look Good!
Who ever thought the GOP would be so caught in its own snares as to be unable to seduce a large voting block?

Now, if they'd just turn off the Bubbas, we'd have enough numbers to clean House, Senate, and impeach the bastards.

Can you alienate Bubba?

2. You'd think they'd want to take advantage of all the Cuban "exile" support the Bushes have acquired
over the years in Miami, starting with the elder Bush around the time of the Bay of Pigs, and ever after that, and then Jeb, who had Cuban business partners in Miami, and may be living around there by now, and then G. W. Bush, who made TONS of trips to Miami in the years of his pResidency.

Every time he has needed a photo op, or some contributions, or to rally his troops, he was off to Miami, to be among his "peeps."

You'd think the LAST thing the Republicans would do would be to ignore all these guys, especially considering the fact so many of them worked with the CIA, and they've got far more than a conventional share of terrorists among them!

5. The GOP has seemingly screwn itself with the immigration debate.
Edited on Wed Sep-12-07 08:09 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
On the one hand, there's a large Hispanic demographic in this country, which the GOP has wooed in the past, yet, on the other hand, the GOP has been busy demonizing same population to distract its racist/xenophobic/ignoramus base from high crimes and misdemeanors in which it's engaging.
