BOSTON -- Hazmat crews are working on cleaning up after a steam pipe explosion in Boston.

The explosion occurred at the intersection of Otis Street and Summer Street near Downtown Crossing.

A pedestrian and three Trigen workers were contaminated by asbestos that was reportedly released when the pipe burst. They were all decontaminated on the scene and later taken to a hospital for further examination.

The area around the explosion was evacuated due to debris that covered the area and possible exposure to asbestos.

Oh, joy: The pipe, covered with asbestos, showered brown sludge on four people, who had to wait for a hazmat team to arrive and decontaminate them before they could be taken to the hospital.

7. The reason it's not getting fixed probably depends on who's
responsible for the pipes.

Congress? Probably not.

The state of Massachusetts? I suspect not.

The City of Boston? More likely. But perhaps not.

Some private company? Also quite possible.

2. Just like in Russia.
Bankrupt from war spending and no money to spend on infra-structure...

4. no money
Most of this stuff was due for repair or replacement years before the current Regime. Infratstructure has be ignored for decades.

3. This infrastructure is getting really old.
Expect to see even more of this. We have a lot of old rusting junk out there holding our cities together.
