U.S. Develops 14-Ton Super Bomb, Bigger Than Russian Vacuum Bomb
Source: RIA Novosti

WASHINGTON, September 13 (RIA Novosti) - The U.S. has a 14-ton super bomb more destructive than the vacuum bomb just tested by Russia, a U.S. general said Wednesday.

The statement was made by retired Lt. General McInerney, chairman of the Iran Policy Committee, and former Assistant Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force.

McInerney said the U.S. has "a new massive ordnance penetrator that's 30,000 pounds, that really penetrates ... Ahmadinejad has nothing in Iran that we can't penetrate."

He also said the new Russian bomb was not a "penetrator."

--
On Tuesday, the Fox News television channel said: "A recent decision by German officials to withhold support for any new sanctions against Iran has pushed a broad spectrum of officials in Washington to develop potential scenarios for a military attack on the Islamic regime.".

Commenting on the report, McInerney said: "Since Germany has backed out of helping economically, we do not have any other choice. ... They've forced us into the military option."

McInerney described some possible military campaign scenarios and said: "The one I favor the most, of course, is an air campaign," he continued.

He said that bombing would be launched by 65-70 stealth bombers and 400 bombers of other types.

"Forty-eight hours duration, hitting 2500 aimed points to take out their nuclear facilities, their air defense facilities, their air force, their navy, their Shahab-3 retaliatory missiles, and finally their command and control. And then let the Iranian people take their country back," the general said describing the campaign, adding it would be "easy."

that these maniacs live in.

if the us was bombed do you think we would be taking our country back or turning on the attackers? and bushco is way less popular than the iranian government.

one thing the neocons are proving ... The UN is USELESS.

Bushco has waged war and overthrown the governments of Haiti, Iraq and Afghanistan, has attempted a coup in Venezuela and is now threatening Iran. WHERE THE HELL IS THE UN? There should be sanctions and blockades against the US by now. The silence is deafening.

28. Racist assholes to boot
I saw an ad recently in the mailstream (I'm a postal worker, I get to see all sorts of interesting mailings sent by the troglodytes to their minions) from the Heritage Foundation. I threw up in my mouth a little bit- every last person but one in their little "representative gathering" on the unwritten side of the card was lily-white.

They had one- repeat one- member of a non-white group, and the presence of that poor African-American girl in the picture just screamed "I'm a token!!"

As if they wanted to say "SEE? We DO involve minorities, we DO, we really, really DO!!"

:grr:

Lily. White. All but one.

41. Ayaan Hirsi Ali
Ayaan Hirsi Ali was a Dutch MP.

"She wrote the short film Submission by Theo Van Gogh, which featured sexualized images of a Muslim woman with verses of the Koran written on her body, telling a tale of abuse. When the filmmaker was murdered in 2004, the note pinned to his body was addressed to Hirsi Ali.

"Two years later, she was at the center of another storm, when a minister in her own party threatened her citizenship because she lied on her refugee application. She moved to the United States, and published her memoir - a huge best-seller.

"She's now working at the arch-conservative American Enterprise Institute in Washington and stopped by to chat with Avi last time she went through town."

Here's her CBC interview with Avi Lewis from his show On The Map.

42. I am reminded of the Israeli government's assumption that an air campaign against
Hezbollah in Lebanon would be "easy" and productive. Who suffered? The civilians, that's who. If we bomb Iran, we will be murdering civilians, not liberating them. What we are doing in Iraq is killing and displacing civilians, not liberating them.

These warmongering idiots make me want to puke.

Because Germany said, basically, sanctions V Iran are BS, the administration is going to give up on their 1/20th assed attempt at diplomacy and are going straight to the bomb... this is UN-Fu... actually I completely believe it. Sadly I have come to expect nothing less than the behavior of a petulant CHILD from this administration. How utterly pathetic!

is shut down the entire oil supply from the Middle East by destroying the oil terminals and the pipelines, wave two fingers in the air and say "your move sunshine"

Use of that bomb will gain the USA nothing other than a Pyrrhic victory - a victory
gained with devasting cost to the victor.

What's the point behind these monster bombs. The "Daisy Cutter" was used in Vietnam to blast away rainforest in a large radius to make instant helicopter landing pads for deployments.

But we're not fighting in rainforest today, are we? Aside from ego-boosting, what's the purpose of the MOAB, the Russian FOAB, and this new megabomb?

62. Lots Of Antiperspirants Here
Thermobaric weapons
They're gaining cachet with large military forces, but what exactly are they?

What is a thermobaric weapon?
A thermobaric weapon disperses a fine cloud of particles of a solid or an explosive liquid, then detonates the cloud with a charge. The result is an explosion of heat and pressure, essentially a fiery shockwave. Such weapons are often synonymous with fuel air explosives, with differences between the two mainly stemming from how quickly the explosive cloud is detonated. Throwing an aerosol spray can into a fire would achieve the same explosive effect as a thermobaric weapon achieves, although obviously on a much smaller scale.

What does thermobaric mean?
The term comes from Greek, with therme meaning heat and baros meaning pressure.
