ReutersTruck bomb kills 10 in northern IraqFri Sep 14, 2007 8:17am EDT
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A suicide bomber rammed a truck
laden with explosives into two police cars near the
northern Iraqi town of Baiji on Friday, killing 10 people,
a police source said.
The source said five of the dead were policemen.
Another 15 people were wounded when the bomber
drove the truck into the police cars, parked outside a
restaurant 3 km (two miles) south of Baiji, the source
said.
Another official, at a joint police and army coordination
centre, put the death toll at 11 and said nine of the
dead were police.
The bombing took place a day after U.S. President
George W. Bush approved a limited U.S. troop
withdrawal from Iraq, but said the U.S. military role
will stretch beyond his presidency.
