"U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson' 31-year-old son was sentenced Friday to two years' probation, drug and alcohol treatment, 200 hours of community service and an anger management class for pushing a police officer in November.
A jury found Charles Nelson guilty in June of battery on a law-enforcement officer, which is a third-degree felony, and resisting arrest without violence, a misdemeanor, for an incident in downtown Orlando after his father's re-election celebration.
He could have received up to six years in prison.
