Bolton: U.S. Backs Israeli Preemption
Source: Jewish Telegraphic Agency

A former U.S. diplomat said America would back Israeli strikes against neighboring nuclear aspirants.

The United States would stand behind any preemptive attack by Israel on neighboring countries believed to have nuclear weapons programs, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton said in an interview published in Israel's daily Yediot Acharonot on Tuesday.

Bolton's remarks following Israel's alleged air raid Sept. 6 in Syria is consistent with long-standing U.S. suspicions that Damascus had received nuclear material from North Korea.

--
"The greatest concern is to prevent Iran and other countries in the region from acquiring nuclear weapons. We're talking about a clear message to Iran: Israel has the right to self-defense, and that includes offensive operations against WMD facilities that pose a threat to Israel," Bolton said. "The United States would justify such attacks."

6. I think you can rest perfectly assured that he would not say

anything that was not backed by the administration. His non-official status is the perfect vehicle for the leakage this administration prefers to communication.

If the admin comes out immediately with a strong denial, he's not a leak line, if a weak denial or none at all, it is official policy and the walrus really is the official unofficial.

11. A part of the ruling class in North America that what:(
I just may happen that Israel will do the attacking with US
money and equipment. Israel committed WAR CRIMES last summer
in Lebanon (Cluster Bombs) what will stop them from Dropping a
few Nukes? China just may drop the American dollar in
retaliation like they have already threatened. This will stop
the "War on Freedom" in its tracks.

So, Israel can pretty much attack any of their neighbors and we'll back them.

7. The U.K. appears to have said NO to the U.S. so the U.S. has signed
France.

This is now about the sixth clear message that publicizes the set-up.

I condemn Israel. I condemn the U.S. I condemn France.

People say that our Congress has already given approval.

We are on our own to watch Rice or Hadley go to the U.N. and make some emergency appeal after Israel mucks things up. It's coming - some said this week. Looks a little later. But not on the Sabbath.

I condemn all leaders of all nations who don't honor children.

We cannot link to Rense or antiwar.com, but we can post articles from JTA?

And I imagine this reply will stay here about 1.3 seconds.

21. Kucinich warned that this was coming and it is upon us
If we bomb Iran then they are going to Bomb Israel

how is that good for Israel

Oh so that a Nuclear Bomb won't hit it

Israel is still going to be a mess

Total Madness has come to our leaders and they will burrow themselves underground while the rest of mankind suffer

It makes one believe the AntiChrist has come and Nostradamus predictions

They will FAIL

25. The US would back Israeli pre-emption anywhere, anywhen.
We don't need Bolton to tell us that. It's standing bipartisan policy that Israel is always right in any conflict. Which is as it should be; they are a satellite state of the US. My head always supports what my fist does, anything less would be schizophrenic.

27. Image if the Soviet Union would have said this in the 1980's
"Iran has the right to self-defense, and that includes offensive operations against WMD facilities that pose a threat to Iran," xxxx said. "The Soviet Union would justify such attacks."

We would have called it irresponsible war-mongering.

30. Since when were there "long-standing U.S. suspicions that Damascus had received nuclear material
from North Korea"? Since the media floated it as a trial balloon on Monday?

John Bolton needs a mental inquest proceeding and some very serious medication.

Edited on Wed Sep-19-07 06:52 AM by LeftishBrit
I hope that the Israelis (and everyone) have enough sense not to pay any attention to him.

And in what sense is he speaking for the United States? The last I heard, he had got the boot as ambassador.
